Dutch Hookbill Hatch!

Would love to get hookbills someday! I want to build a pond to wherever I move where ill grow out invasive fish species so I can eat em, bet ducks would love it too! Helping preserve struggling breeds/species is something id really wanna do though!

I kicked mine out to the coop today! More space for them and less mess for me, haha. So them and their six gosling friends got the boot into their new coop, where they have a little swimming pool, their heat plate brooder, and lots of food. They're happy little guys. I didn't get any pictures though because it was getting dark by the time I was done setting them up.

I only kept 3 ducks and 2 drakes from the whole flock ( I hatched 8 drakes and only 4 hens!). I have 18 eggs on the incubator and I’m hoping to get more girls this time.

Holderread retired after last year. I'm not sure if they'll be selling adults this year or not. But I'll keep my eye on them to see :)
I emailed Wanita that is in charge of orders at Holderread and she replied telling that they did not retire yet. They sold most of the flock but they will continue selling adults to those that were on the list. I’m still on their list from last year when they only had drakes by the time they got to my number, so I hope getting a pair in few months.
