Dying Ducklings

I have a friend who just got 20 new ducklings. A few have been randomly dying and he has no idea what's happening . Does anyone have any ideas? He's been giving them electrolyte water and is a very experienced poultry owner so I definitely don't think it's his care. Thanks so much for your help!

Where did he get them? Did he double check the date on the feed? I lost some chicks a few years back to bad feed. What is the manner in which they are dieing? Are they normal then just dead or do they start acting ill then die?

He got them from Metzer. He says there were no signs whatever. He thinks it might liver disease or duck hepatitis, do you know anything about those? He gets his feed from a local farm.

I dont really know much about ducks but I would think either of those would have at least one symptom or sign that there was a problem. That's very weird. I would be curious to know what is causing it. If I were him I would definitely check the date on the feed bag, thing like that can get over looked and probably consult a vet.
