eagle eye/ i think she is slowly dieing!!! :-(

i have been wanting to ask you guys this for a while but kept forgetting. Eagle Eyes right eye is always closed. she opens it rarely when something startles her but normally she looks like a pirate with her left eye open and right eye closed.

One of my roosters does this all the time. She is fine If you want you can get a dog/cat sailne wash for their eyes and wash it with that. Just squrt in her eye and rub away the exrta with a tissue.

I think that if the mites were causing her illness, then it's going to take her a while to regain blood And strength. Idk though,

for whatever you decide

aawww, tough decision.....Sometimes we just have to sit back and see what mother-nature has in store. If she doesn't look good and she seems to be distressed I think you will know what needs to be done, for Eagle Eyes sake. I"ll be thinking about you!

you have done everything you could for her, sorry you have such a tough decision ahead of you, but it does seem like it's time, that's if you know how to cull a chicken, i do not. If she is not going to get better, then i hope she dies quickly tonight, so sorry

Honey she doesn't need a bath and she won't lay an egg. When chickens are sick they stop laying so they can put all their energy into getting better. You've done so much for her it's time to let her go. From your description she sounds very, very ill and should be put down. I truly sorry that you have to go through this.

Many of us on BYC have been in the same situation and it does feel like someone has kicked you in the stomach. All of us understand what you are feeling even if you don't believe me. If you have any questions or want to talk one of us will be here. This is a time when you have to do what is best for her. Right now she is suffering and I'm sure you don't want her to feel that way. She will always have a special place in your heart.

I'd like you to do something for me. If you take her to the vet to be put to sleep you can stay with her if you feel up to it. The doctor will give her a shot and she will slowly fall asleep. There's no pain. If someone else puts her down for you please don't watch. I promise that it will be easier if you don't watch. It's better that you think of her when she was feeling well and being a happy chicken.

I'll keep you and eagle eye in my thoughts tonight. Hopefully she will pass away in her sleep. I am so, so sorry.

My earlier offer to pay for the vet visit to have her put to sleep still stands.

E-mail me with the vets name and phone number.
