Early February 2016 Hatch - Who's In?

Beetandsteet- calibrate at the dead center of the unit. I first calibrated my thermometer using the ice water method then put it in the center. The unit comes with instructions on how to calibrate and it was easy. My unit was off by .3 degrees Celsius. The humidity reading is off by about 5-10 percentage points so I rely on a calibrated hygrometer for humidity.
Ok will do. Instructions? Mine are written in poorly translated English with the most laughable grammar in the world. Ha! I think I can get it though. .3 degrees is not bad. Do you use the styrofoam insulating shields that come with the incubator?
Quote: Haha! We will see--got this bator as a birthday gift and haven't used it yet. I'm nervous about using anything new! Been using my old Little Giant 9200 for 2 years now, so it's going to be a big change for me to use anything digital.

I know these aren't the greatest pics, but for day 10, I wasn't sure about one of them (possible blood ring?). However, keeping them all in there until I candle in 8 days. Here are the pics:

Great news - came home and temp was 99.3 - and to celebrate I did a day 7/day 8 candle - 18 viable eggs out of 22

2 clears and 2 blood rings - all were cochin eggs.

Good news on the temp! What a relief. Are you going to keep the 4 that were clear/blood rings in the incubator or get rid of them?

Day 9
Good egg

Bad egg
I have 2 clears so far. I only have 4 in so looks like I'll only have 2 fluffy butts in my brooder.

I have been keeping them in my incubator just in case they miraculously start developing... 8 days in... yes. I'm living in a dream world apparently!

I candled, weighed, and drew air cells on my 33 today. With my weighing on day 4 to be sure how their weight loss was going, I found I was hugely ahead of where they should be trending so I upped the humidity. FLASH TO TODAY: Air cells are on the small side for day 8 even though my weigh loss was in line with what it should be.. I think I will drop my humidity back into the mid 30's and check again in a week. :he. Although, I could clearly tell that at least 19 were viable... Oh yeah!!!!

Plus on a side note, I have someone coming to grab my 2- 7 week old cockerels I hatched out last. I was worried about getting rid of them but I've had tons of people wanting them! YAY no stew pot for them!
