Mahonri, looking at the USGS fault map, it appears to be in the southern extension of the Elsinore fault (a normal fault,which run down through the east side of the valley near Laguna Salada, MX (S of Mexicali) and continues towards the SA fault near the northern end of the Sea of Cortez).
A 7.2! That's a gnarly earthquake. DH and I felt the rolling and it was a good, long one! DHs parents didn't feel it, but their pool was swaying good and the hanging things on the ceiling fan were really swaying.
