Easiest cull method

To be clear it was a duckling, about 5 weeks. Idk If ducks have stronger necks but it did not cut the head off. Instead it forced the lopers apart sideways. The loper blades are tall and strong in one dimention but thin side to side. So the blades bent out with the neck between the blades. I loped 3 times, still not dead so i loped again and twisted to break the neck. It was not a humane death in any fashion. I was very surprised it did not work. Pvc cutters are designed differently and may work. Photo so you can understand what I'm talking about.
Well that wasn't pleasant for any involved. 😱
I have had that happen to branches with dull loppers

I think i forgot to mention that i still use the loppers around the yard for their intended purpose. On the bright side when i watch an action movie where the sidekick gets captured and the villian starts cutting off fingers with loppers i now shout at the tv about how hollywood movies are so fake.
Yeah I have dedicated loppers for poultry.

I just had to cull two pullets of mine, first two I ever did. Hubby did it actually. Broomstick method. First bird, he pulled too hard and the head came right off. Second bird, he didn't want to repeat that so he didn't pull hard enough. We thought she was dead, so we put her on the ground. She was still for a second then flopped over and flew across the yard! We made sure she was dead on the second attempt. I knew they would flop around after dying but I never thought about their eyes and beaks opening and closing repeatedly. Kinda wish I would have known about that before hand. But, live and learn I guess. OP, I sure hope yours are all pullets and stay healthy!

I'm thinking they are all actually pullets. We're at 8 weeks now and they're still pretty pale and small.

Has anyone tried a wire garrote? Wrap once around neck, pull handles with both hands?

I haven't tried this, in fact, just thought of it. Seems like it might allow easy placement around the neck while loose?
