East RIver - South Dakota

We got rid of our SLW Roo, wish I could of helped.
Now for that coon, if your chickens are in a confined area/pen, go to a hair salon and ask them to save you a days worth of hair. Then sprinkle the hair outside of the pen. The human scent will help keep the coons away. Used this trick around my sweet corn and it was amazing, coons went right through a triple wire electric fence.

The coon was taken care of. Was a bold one. Attacked in daylight. Lost 5 of 26 but that rooster was the biggest loss. Having trouble with roosters. Last year the only Swedish flower hen roo died.

Ours run free range most of the day so actually pretty lucky there have not been more fatals.

Hello, we are new to this and want to find pullets from this area instead of paying tons of shipping. We don't know where to look. Does anyone have any ideas. We also want to get to know people in the area that that have the same interests as us. We're hoping to have the coop done this week.
Thanks!

Hello, I am from Labolt. Have been raising chickens off and on most of my life. I have 14 hens and they should start laying in Dec. It will be fun to share with someone who is not 500 miles away. Always looking for connections for hatching eggs is my main concern. I guess I am a chicken purest. I don't wish to cross breed. I have barred rocks and do not plan on keeping a roster. Well... I hope we find several who are from East River.
