Easter Egger club!

Oops messed up somehow. First time post of a pic. This is my Great Dane Desiel and Anatolian Sheppard pup. Looks like he's saying "mom! The chicks stealing my food!" If you look close you can see one of my 5 week old EEs in the bowl.

Here are our Easter eggers...

We have 3 EEs. The one my sun is holding is "Hey Chicken". He named her himself. She started in May laying an average size Green egg. She went broody for about three weeks. Then she started laying again with a large blue egg.

The darker orange hen is "Boots Dear". Again named by my son. She's about 16 weeks, so no eggs yet. She is very skidish and ranks really low in the pecking order.

The rooster is named Bubbles. He got that name before being begged as a boy. He too is at about 16 weeks. He's a great rooster. Very friendly and handsome!

I'm new to chickens. I got my EE for their beautiful eggs

I have a question. I'm new to the chicken world... and so far from what I read, an easter egger is basically a mixed breed chicken that has blue eggs? Is that true? and if so is there a name for a mixed breed chicken that has a white egg, or a brown egg?

Thanks!

I could be wrong but I believe EEs are the offspring of a blue egg layer and any other layer. They can have blue, green, pink, brown, or even tinted eggs. It depends on their parentage. I may be wrong about this though.

Yup. If bred properly, they should lay some form of green. Occasionally you will get the other colors.
