Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Love this thread. Almost read all 233 pages. I think the bottom line is....wait until they start laying. I ended up with 15 chicks....about 10 more than I bargained for. But I'm going to wait until I see some eggs to determine who is who. Pretty Birds though!

Haha, mine is a girl I think. The feathers are the girl color right?

She's my favorite of all my chicks, as you can tell because she is also my avatar.

I accidently posted that one twice! OPS! sorry!

I have a 5 1/2 week old EEer that I'd like advice on

She was solid white as a baby chick, and has some rust coming in. It's very similar to my other EE here who is definitely a hen:

EXCEPT. This chick has the rust coming in mostly on it's head/neck where my EE hen has it on her body and not neck. And it as these weird individual dark grey/black feathers coming in on it's head and under one wing, which is different from my EE hen...

Here s/he is, Thoughts?

These cheeks are awesome, aren't they? :)

Still looks like a pullet to me, that red is very pale. Give her a few more weeks. Though at this age with my cockerels I usually see much more comb development.

lol This is Hawk, who feathered in "typical girl" but was definitely boy. I wish I got some pictures of him before we rehomed him - he was really pretty. Growing up... And then the red starts coming in:
Ah, yes, he was a tricky one with the all-over patterning! But the coloring doesn't match mine and that's really what I'm going off of. The combo of silver neck, rosy breast, and dark/pattered back is feminine. Mine isn't pure like a silver Ameraucana but if you look at pictures of them, you'll see how the color combos work for a pullet vs. cockerel, how vastly different they look, and why I think mine is pattered like a girl.
