Easter Egger thread!

End of Week One: My EE's have feathered out more than the other 2 and have muffs and bitty tails. They were so calm to begin with and now they seem to be vying for head hen position. It's so funny to watch. I am afraid though they may be picking on the Aussie as she is the smallest so far. These girls need names this weekend and I need to put together a bigger brooder.

I think my easter egger is 5ish weeks now, I lost track lol she's almost fully feathered now.. any ideas on when wattles/saddle feathers/hackles? Will start to show if she is a rooster.. hawks my favourite and I now already have a rooster so I'm hoping more than ever that she's a pullet

Awww!!!!! They are so cute!

I fully admit these birds are pets. Pets With Benefits but pets none the less. Even when they get into the baby veggies they are not in trouble, or hide their nest when they want to try and hatch chicks... and make me hunt for the nest. I named the Leia and Amidala my Star Wars Chickens. I spoil them, but they give me smiles.

I apologize if this has been asked on this thread already! We have 4 Easter Eggers that are 18 weeks and 1 day. Our lightest combed girl is pacing around acting like she's looking for a place to lay. She has been being more talkative today and she's making an absolute mess out of one of the nest boxes. I have been told that bright red, swollen combs/wattles are a sign of eminent laying as is the "squat". She doesn't seem to be meeting those requirements, but she's the only one in the nests and tossing stuff around like a mad woman. Should I be worried that something is wrong with her or should I assume she is getting ready to lay? I will post a pic of her shortly!
