Hey all,
I found out this past Easter weekend that my in-laws have an Easter tradition of bringing decorated hard boiled eggs to our get together. That seemed pretty normal but as part of the process of eating them, they have a small egg "head butt" like competition where two people, each holding one egg, take turns smacking the other persons egg with their egg so see who's shell cracks first.

Anybody else do or heard of that tradition?

Pridefully, for the record, our pasture raised eggs went totally undefeated against the store bought eggs. Three cheers for oyster shell in the diet!

It's a tradition here in southern Louisiana. It's called knocking or pocking. It stems from our french cajun roots. There's a huge contest every Easter sunday morning on our courthouse square with big money prizes.

Our Easter consists of church, egg knocking contest, drinking, big Easter dinner, drinking, more egg knocking with family & friends, drinking, egg hunt, drinking.

NOT knocking eggs on Easter seems weird to us!!!

Interesting.

FYI - Without Oyster shell, free ranged will still conquer storebought.

I don't supply any calcium at all, and mine are still tough as nails.
