the current collie wont touch raw meat, but will take raw pigeon and chicken eggs ect. i always feed quality meat that i know ere came from deer ect., ive killed myself ect when i fed raw.
if banties then easier to make a trap out of rabbit cage, were you just bend pieces of coat hanger so hang straight from inside of open door, just wide narrow enough apart so they cannot get back out once they get in by others to eat mealworms (the ones who are eating inside will make a treat call telling great treats, and the rest will come in to eat). it the same you could look up for how fanciers make a pigeon bob trap, for when homers come back, or trapping ferals humanely. good luck, as they can go feral quick and prefer to be out if game type, but they get the idea after taming down were home is if theye been safe there for a while at night (a group of game hens took months before would come in on own, but were pretty safe shielded from night attacks up in a trimmed cedar, though the stupid "egg laying whites" as called down here which are white leghorn mixes, will lay from roost which can get messy underneath.
I'm starting to feed my dogs meat, but I boil it... or eggs, and I scramble them. The GMOs in dog's feed is horrible and after losing 5 (across the family) to tumors ... three all in the same year... I'm done with it. Literally killing you pets (and yourself) every time they eat that crap. Horrible, horrible stuff.
And you are right, if the guy that gave them the games had them "free ranging" - they will be basicly feral. Chickens that people use as layers or dual purpose "heritage" types are domesticated... and brown egg layers are generally heavier and can't fly nearly as high. So a largefowl Old English Game will fly... and I mean FLY.... a leghorn can fly but only half as well.... and a Barred Rock (for example) "flies" even less than that. That is why when people say "a four foot fence is enough" to a beginer... they can be giving bad advice. 4ft isn't nearly enough for some breeds but plenty for others. And for game breeds that don't trust people or understand coops.... forget about it.
