the current collie wont touch raw meat, but will take raw pigeon and chicken eggs ect. i always feed quality meat that i know ere came from deer ect., ive killed myself ect when i fed raw.

if banties then easier to make a trap out of rabbit cage, were you just bend pieces of coat hanger so hang straight from inside of open door, just wide narrow enough apart so they cannot get back out once they get in by others to eat mealworms (the ones who are eating inside will make a treat call telling great treats, and the rest will come in to eat). it the same you could look up for how fanciers make a pigeon bob trap, for when homers come back, or trapping ferals humanely. good luck, as they can go feral quick and prefer to be out if game type, but they get the idea after taming down were home is if theye been safe there for a while at night (a group of game hens took months before would come in on own, but were pretty safe shielded from night attacks up in a trimmed cedar, though the stupid "egg laying whites" as called down here which are white leghorn mixes, will lay from roost which can get messy underneath.

I'm starting to feed my dogs meat, but I boil it... or eggs, and I scramble them. The GMOs in dog's feed is horrible and after losing 5 (across the family) to tumors ... three all in the same year... I'm done with it. Literally killing you pets (and yourself) every time they eat that crap. Horrible, horrible stuff.

And you are right, if the guy that gave them the games had them "free ranging" - they will be basicly feral. Chickens that people use as layers or dual purpose "heritage" types are domesticated... and brown egg layers are generally heavier and can't fly nearly as high. So a largefowl Old English Game will fly... and I mean FLY.... a leghorn can fly but only half as well.... and a Barred Rock (for example) "flies" even less than that. That is why when people say "a four foot fence is enough" to a beginer... they can be giving bad advice. 4ft isn't nearly enough for some breeds but plenty for others. And for game breeds that don't trust people or understand coops.... forget about it.

Hey guys i am new to area/site and we just started our chicken ranch
wee.gif
. I know this isn't the have and want thread but I figured I would try local first. I have some Roos that might interest somebody in the area, maybe we can do a trade?? I have 3 extra Barred Rock, and a Colubian. Would love to get an EE, amercauna, maran or welsummer hen to cross with a amercauna roo I have. All of my birds are 11 weeks old today. I also have some Jumbo Cornish X rocks, thinking maybe use them to increase the size of somebodys smaller breeds, (if tha'ts even posable?). PM me if your interested or maybe if youve got a better idea for me to get to the multi colored eggs I really want...

No, you are very welcome to post wants and haves here... heck, you can even get off topic from chickens... most people here like rabbits as a topic, sometimes goats and donkeys, as well.

I, personally, can't help you out right now, timing is bad for me... but I like the size on that thunder-thighs you have in the front there... the one that looks like it is trying to be a Delaware.

I don't feed raw or cooked diet to mine but I do try to choose the best premium food I can afford. IMO if you are feeding Ol' Roy or most Purina foods you may as well buy a bag of scratch corn & put it down for your dogs. I like this site to compare dog foods: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ I always keep in mind that even though the first ingredient listed is valued as having the most weight/volume doesn't mean alot to me because 3 or more types of grains added together equals more than the first ingredient.

I only have experience with layers and will say the Orps probably wouldn't even need a 4' fence to contain them. Now my EEs vary in the amount of flying they do (I guess because they are mutts). Also the Orps do not forage very well and consume huge amounts of feed but again IMO they make up for this in their beauty.

Hi and welcome! I can't help you either but I may have some EEs come spring. I think some on here have several of the breeds you are wanting. Good luck.

I fed "blue" when I worked for them... the "wilderness" series, which has no grain. 100% meat.... but, as you know, I would like to not be dependent on having to go 40minutes away to get feed.

So, for me, and my end goal... other than keeping my dogs alive longer without the painful and horrible, long drawn out death of tumors... I think the meat is my best option. Ya know?

But you are right... you might as well just have them eat scratch.... or whole corn. Which brings me around to the topic of GMOs in chicken feed.... especially if you eat the chicken. All the organic groceries don't amount to anything if you feed GMOs to your chickens and then eat said chickens.

Okay, the incubator is echoing, and I have room for plenty of eggs. If anyone is looking to hatch, but wants to hatch more than they can handle, or doesn't have an incubator, pm me! I live in Elizabethton and would be more than happy to split hatches with you! Or trade eggs once my flocks get back to laying well. Right now I have frizzle eggs, silver Seabright eggs, and the occasional Speckled Sussex. Once my new flock settles in, I will have lots of Giant Cochin eggs (blues, blacks, and blue-blacks) and I should have frizzled Easter eggers by the end of the Summer. Next year. Well next year I will have pretty much whatever you want, I am building up my flocks this year, and next year the hatching will be ON!

It could be I thought it was a columbian but hey wth do I know I ordered from a hatchery and ordered assorted packages... DUH

Yeah, if you ordered it (as opposed to getting them off someone and it has the possibility of being crossed) it is a hatchery quality Delaware. Keep it... most of my favorites who become pets are Dels. ;)
