I would have warned you if I knew there was anything other than huge poo. I only have hefty girls, remember? But, hey, that explains why I heard other people talking about changing litter once a twice a year but my pens are gross after eight weeks. I use Sweet PDZ and DE to keep everything dry and that helps, but I still have to watch my step.

I use PDZ too,,,,also it you take a few minutes and use a sifter especially where the roost is...and then fluff the shavings you will be surprised how long they will last. Mine usually do for around 3 1/2 mo. depending on the weather. Longer if it is really hot and dry. Local coop and TSP have the sifters in the horse department.

And just when I thought that TSC would forget my first name.....I buy so much crap there, it is like being Norm and walking into Cheers.

Have to go now...I hear what may well be a chopper

About those darn thousand flower dew clays. I have some questions.

They are calm (like a mini-me of a cochin); do they integrate with a big girl mixed flock without getting themselves killed or sat on?

They are broody (otherwise you would not like them). Will they attempt to sit all my girls full sized eggs? (that would be a site

With hens barely breaking 20 oz's; will my big boy cochin try to mate her and cause irrefutable damage (talking about damage to me that my therapist might have trouble fixing) Oh... and will it hurt her as well?

The day I get a mini hen is the day I may as well start using the word cute and wearing a straw hat with lace on it........arghhh

I could not resist posting a pic of my little D'Uccle JoJo. He is such a handsome boy and I have never seen this much personality in a chicken. Just bought 2 black D'Uccles from Lori as girlfriends. Nellabean...I can't get your MFs out of my mine!!
Let me know what you think about my boy! I hope to show him in the spring along with the girls.

I don't know much about d'uccles to be honest.....I would consider keeping your lav roo alone a few weeks prior to show so the ladies can't pick his beard lol.

These d'uccles will be going to a rabbit show 10/1 to be sold......so figure something out quick if you want them.

Bairo, I would personally make them a little coop and pen to live alone in......they could be your kid's new little show birds/pets
