Ummm... does that mean I have to change my dosage? Am I still at 1cc per LF? I'm procrastinating. I've been enjoying the five measly eggs I've been getting per day. Did you hear anything from Blue Seal. I'd be willing to buy 200lb per month of Organic Life if we are able to mix and match. Depending on the price, of course. I haven't been able to find anything about that online.

no..your fine.
I was off by a small amount. I gave mine the same dosage I gave all of yall and they look completely clear and have been laying like crazy. Day three or maybe four after worming I think it was my eggs tripled.

The next cull I do though I will check very very carefully from the inside out (lol) to see if I see any evidence of worm load.

also posted the dosage for pour on ivermectin ( I wont mention any names

Be sure and use a standard medicine dropper you get from just about any drug store or Walmart probably. Heck the pharmacist may even just give you one if you ask nice

Wyandottes are wormed! Let's see... that's ten of the forty-one chickens... SHOOT! I think I'll be at this a while. Did it all by myself, though. Which probably explains why I am COVERED in chicken poo. One of my two boys even managed to get his foot in my pocket. It's like he thought, "Where is the hardest possible place for her to remove poop?"

Good job! Don't you just hate that? It's only the days I have extremely clean clothes on when I go to feed and water and a chicken will get SOMETHING on me... Hope you can get it out of your pocket

bairo - I wish I knew how you were doing your math... I'm trying to figure out if I gave mine enough Wazine, stopped seeing worms but don't know if they all got a good dose and wish I knew how much to give EACH one

instead of in the water bowl.. especially since it rained later that day!

nella - I'm sorry you lost a RIR girl!

but may I ask why you call them Stew # ?

The syringe I used had 12 in it, you sent me four and they looked like they all had the same amount in them... So, yeah, that's 48, right? See why I leave important calculations to others?

Five are bantams, though. Do I retreat in 10 days like you do with Wazine?

I started with the Wyandottes cause they don't like me that much, anyway. My one Orpington-who-thinks-she's-a-Wyandotte was the only one that got upset, though. As I was leaving she was still making the low, "haaaaaaaa" sound. You know the one. The one that sounds like it should be followed by a "YA!" and a roundhouse kick?

OK, I have to bathe, now. I changed clothes and washed my hands but am still catching whiffs of eau-de-coupe.

Daph
I am of the opinion that you should follow up with a second dose. BUT..... There are many out there that will say that Valbazen gets EVERYTHING even the little nematodes (babies, whatever they are called) This stuff is super safe really and I would just rather be certain by a repeat in 10 days. That way I know im good for probably 8 months unless I see a wormy first. Right now though I have written down an eight month cycle. What I ended up doing was wazine initially and then got so worried I just went straight to valbazen for the follow up. I can mix more if you need it for a follow up or you can do wazine, or ivermectin pour on. "See my page"

STANG...

Ughhh, math for wazine?

OK. in the winter/cool weather a normal sized (not one of Daph's crazy big chickens) drinks about 200 ml's a day (6.5 oz more or less)
wazine is 1 oz in 128 oz of water. That is .008 oz wazine per oz of water. 6.5 ozs water in day times .008 ozs of wazine in each = .052 oz wazine intake per day per chicken = 1.5 cc straight wazine per big bird and repeat in 30 days
cool.png

Is that what you were looking for ?? I would write this down someplace but it is so variable due to what season it is dictates how much water the bird drinks. It must be really safe because if it were summer and the bird drank 12 ozs of water that day, he would get 3 cc of wazine. I think I would stick with 1.5 though and do it again in 10 days or do ivermec drench on the 10th day.

Now that is for Wazine 17 for chickens...not the other stronger one. Wazine 34 would be half that dose.

THANK YOU!!!

Yes! That is awesome of you! Sounds like my chickens are going to be rewormed in a week (30 days from the last time I wormed them) and getting it straight from a water downed sample in a syringe (needleless of course)!
I have the wazine 17, bought it to give to chickens and bunnies and found a weaker one for dogs and cats... so the chickens get the more potent stuff, bunnies and cat get the weaker version.

Oh btw guys, I have a Langshan rooster nice and young a blue that I'm gonna go ahead and sale lost my only pullet out of the hatch and going to keep the splash rooster. They were just dusted with DE for mites and put DE in the water to see if it'd naturally deworm them... I remember someone wanting Langshans a while back...

I cannot believe how my hens are starting to lay again now. I never knew you could actually see the worms in their poop. For some reason we have not much problems with worms in our cats or dogs..in fact the vet never finds any. I still dose them just to be sure. Even the horses don't. I must have "special" soil..hehe
SO....after 10 days I need to redose the chickens??? If I decided to wait when would I need to dose them again? I am glad I kept the last 2 dozen eggs instead of selling them! I absolutely will NOT buy store eggs.

My little D'Uccle pullet from Lori laid her first egg!!!

Can't wait to pick up my mille fluers tomorrow!!

Have the incubator warmed up and ready to add eggs...only a handful but...at least I am getting to work on hatching again!
