Eastern Washington

Well, Rosie's sutures were starting to come out of their own accord anyway, so we went ahead and removed them this evening. Nothing popped back out! She's looking really good, she's eating and it appears she has reintegrated back into the flock. Tomorrow we'll put her out with the others for good, and I'll be keeping a close eye on her to see how she does when she starts laying again. I think we may have pulled through this! After reading so many cases of prolapse that ended in tragedy, I've been really worried for Rosie, but I think she's going to be okay.

Nigerians are definitely at the top of the list!!! I thought it would be best to start with the little ones. My hands cramp up and can get painful due to a nerve disease so hopefully milking a smaller goat will be managable. Therefore, only one freshened doe to start with! I've been looking at dog houses on CL and contemplating them for geese and ducks but hadn't really thought about them for goats, which is funny since that is what our single pygmy lived in when I was a teenager (my dog was his buddy till she disappeared and he got very lonely). I've been collecting pallets to make a shelter, but, unfortunately, my hubby needs to help with that

Congrats on the Icelandic ewes!! They are gorgeous in the pictures!! My hubby is currently pulling the disgruntled "whatever" on animals, but I know I need to tread lightly

Yes, tread lightly with those sweet hubbys:)

Hi! I'm from the eastern slopes of the cascades, and we got snow this morning. Winter is still hangin' in there. Don't mean to just jump in, but I can't keep up with the Washingtonian thread from the west side, and I'm still looking for a place where I might fit in. So what do you think? Is it o.k. if I hang out here with you guys?

Hi there! Welcome!

We had a sudden hail storm over here, and my girls were huddled against the fence at the far side of the yard, silly birds! I herded them back toward their coop and they ducked under their lean-to shelter.
