Eastern Washington

wow! beautiful eggs Chaebird!!

That sounds like quite a project, chickengarden... wow!

It's fun to read your posts, you guys... I grew up in Spokane, well Colbert actually, so it's fun when you talk about the area! My brothers and sisters still live up there, one in the valley, one in town, and one out at Liberty Lake! Small world, eh?

Some pics of the 3 amigos from yesterday... such a pretty day and they were having fun out exploring their yard:

Tilly loves to cuddle!

Fran dust/sun bathing her lovely feathers!

Free-range Boo!

He called as soon as he touched down. He said he had a blast, but doesn't want to do it again, which suits me just fine.

Good man!

Happy Mother's Day!
Maggie, it is a small world, isn't it. It's nice to see your babies out in the grass. It always makes me so happy to show the new little creatures the outside world.
Here's a recent picture of my second batch of babies.

Oh, so cute!!!! I want ducks so bad now, everyone keeps posting such adorable pictures.

Chaebird, so glad he had a safe "fall! And yay for 4 eggs!

Chickengarden, love the ducks!

We are trying to figure out how to get our 7 week old chicks out to see the sun in the run. There is an area that can be sectioned off, but we can't easily get them back out to take them in at night once they're in there so we're working out the details and hoping they can go out next weekend.

I love that I can be away for the weekend and come back to a thread that is not overwhelmingly far ahead of me! We had a BEAUTIFUL weekend on our farm outside of Dixie. Spent a day fixing the deer fence around our baby orchard, and most exciting, did the final stakeout of our house location! Hopefully the dirt work starts this week!!! I will believe it when I see it ;). Also saw some wild turkeys, a roo pheasant strutting his stuff, and a cow elk with a yearling calf. Sigh. Our little slice of heaven!
I set 21 eggs just before we left, and the bator was rock steady while we were gone, so I am anxiously awaiting my candle tomorrow (day 7). They were severely scrambled shipped eggs, so I am trying not to get my hopes up, but I sure hope I see something!
Chae that is a lovely handful of eggs! I love when all 4 of my girls lay in a day. We have had them for year, and I still feel like it is a treasure hunt every day!
Chickengarden, those ducklings are ADORABLE! It almost makes me want to have ducks just to see those cute faces, but I don't know what I would do with them after that!
Happy week everyone!

It's been a LONG time since I've posted and haven't been in here much So, I've had many not so lovely things going on here...
One of my Silkie hens ( one of the two confirmed hens out of 6 :( ) started acting weirder than usual. She loses her balance as if her equilibrium is off. So I separated her, cut her crest a bit too see if she can see and have been monitoring her to make sir she can eat/ drink because I noticed she was too thin. I'm scared to death that she has Merek's, but so far none of the other birds are showing signs. I feel so bad for her and have considered " releasing" her but she is thriving and has gained weight.

After getting tests back from t the naturopathic doc I started seeing it was found that in addition to the celiac diagnosed a few years ago and confirmed recently, I am allergic to dairy and EGGS!!!! SOOOO mad!

Next..
On Friday before last, I started mowing the lawn ( riding mower) and almost immediately got " shot" with something in my leg. I yelled bad things them kept going until I put my hand down and felt a bunch of blood and a hole in my thigh. After contemplating getting it looked at I decided to deal with it until a couple days later when I noticed a knot about 4in away from the puncture. Sure enough, the rads showed a piece of metal was imbedded and had to have surgery to get it out. That thing was 3in deep!

Then, to top off the awful last couple weeks, e had a bee swarm come into our house!!! Yes, you read it right! They came in thru a tiny hole where a junction in the roof is developing rot. One moment there was nothing, then there were a hundred bees in a room. Fortunately, they mostly stayed confined to that room. I called a bee guy who came and decided to go get a bait box to see if he could draw them out but by the time he got back most of them had disappeared! We sucked up the rest with the vacuum.

There have been other small annoyances but you get the point! It has not been very pleasant here lately! Gonna try to keep finding good things around to keep me sane and try not to feel picked on!
B.t.w, I very much dislike this mobile site! Please excuse the bad typing!
