Our flock now contains five known roosters. 4 of them were supposed to be hens. Now we are having issues with these Roos because they are fighting with our alpha roo over the hens. We figure the only way to solve this is to cull and eat them. We've tried giving them away even with a already laying hen but no progress. About 3 or 4 weeks ago these Roos had tylan injections for a respiratory infection. Is it safe to eat the meat after that?

I can't answer the injection part of the question, but typically Silkies aren't eaten in this country. That is because their meat is rather black. It can be eaten but most of us would kind of have this reaction

to being served Silkie meat.

I have to say that my silkies are my babies and I love my girls but too many roosters affects the hens so they gotta go one way or another. My boyfriend wants to try the meat anyways and we have a recipe for silkie meat it's a soup. So we separated them from the flock and the deed will be done beyond my sight. Thanks for the feedback!!
