Ebay Purchased Hatching Eggs Experiences Ups & Downs!!!

I am not downing anyone for US marans. I have some. I am just not going to spend my time trying to improve them. I am going to focus all my energy on the French. I know there are earnest breeders out there in US marans and I only support them all the way in the breeds and the eggs.
I support all Marans breeders, You just ask me what English meant and I guess USA birds. I am not downing anyones birds, breeds or egg colors.
Bred down or bred up. Maybe I shouldn't have used the work bred down. Sorry

Oh I have found out any statement on these forums are taken way to seriously. Again
Call the Engish Marans What ever. No matter what I say or call them I will be wrong.
Many on here just set you up with a question just so you give a answer they don't like so they can attack you and discredit you.
So what ever I said about the US English Marans I was wrong.

Hope this makes every one happy.
Does it need to be discussed any more?
If so please leave me out of it.

I think there are 2 reasons that ppl have started doing this. 1. they are making money off of the shipping and 2. they only have a couple of hens of a rare breed and they *cant* come up with a dozen eggs to ship sigh...and if they do they'll be pretty old ones!

Not one of my six ebay Blue Orpington eggs is good. I think even if shipped eggs don't get cracked or broken, they can be overheated, overcooled, or addled inside.

This just isn't a good time of the year to ship eggs. It's too hot and a lot of breeders I've dealt with won't even ship now. When I get to the point I can sell I won't do any shipping when it's this hot. Just think how hot your car is after it's sat in 90+ degrees for just a little while.....that's how it is for eggs in the back of the mail truck.

That's why I'm not shipping again until the temps cool down. I want the buyer to get the best possible hatch rate they can. If someone just insists on getting eggs, regardless,I may take a chance, but really,I'd prefer to wait.

I would think that if sellers would pack the eggs in one of those small Styrofoam coolers then in a box that shipping wouldnt be a problem as long as its a 2 day ride or less even in the heat of summer. When i lived in AK i would send fresh fish to the lower 48 packed in Styrofoam coolers and never had a problem in the summer with it getting to hot as long as i used priority mail or express mail if it had to go all the way to the east coast.

I absolutely believe the first.
I find the second to be a stretch.
Most of the *6 eggs sellers* I've seen have an abundant number of completed sales and so an obvious track record. To be frank, they didn't get that huckstering a few *rare breed* hens.

Im not inclined to be so generous with my appraisal, I suppose. I think these sellers reckon it's still profitable AND less trouble to mess with 6, so they go that route to -

A. Entice more customers with potentially lower shipping.
B. Get more out of shipping fewer eggs.

They probably bought one of those "Get Rich on eBay" CD sets, I dunno, but this trend has literally popped up from somewhere. Even a year ago, you didnt see it like you do now.

However, a dozen costs little more to ship than 6. Ditto 2 dozen over one. When you consider the potential for loss inherent in this process, from shipping to incubation to adulthood.... well, 6 is almost nothing.

Who willingly pays for that sort of value?
