Ebay seller took image off my poultry clubs website

I wonder what this person thinks it was if not copyright? I mean it was a flat out lie when they claimed the bird as their own.

"...But i do have Leghorns..."

It's like a dating website. You see a picture of a 26yr old Baywatch babe but when you go on the date the only thing that matches her description is that she is female. (Or is NOW anyway)

Seriously though. After MULTIPLE incidences of people stealing pics from my website and using them for their ebay auctions (usually to sell Easter Eggers!), I had to put up a big "do not steal my pictures!" warning on every single page. Kind of a shame, really.

One seller, when I asked them to remove my picture from their auction, claimed that the picture they were using was of THEIR bird, not mine! The picture they were using was a closer crop of an image from my website. I couldn't believe it! It was childish, but I was so irked that I went to extreme lengths to prove that the bird and the image were mine, and I never heard from them again.

I guess it happens all the time.

What really surprises me (and frustrates me!) is that most of the people who I've confronted about taking my pictures to sell their eggs on ebay genuinely don't seem to think it's wrong. I dunno about you guys, but it seems like terrible mis-representation to me, especially when they're using pictures of my rumpless/tufted Araucanas to sell hatchery-style Easter Eggers! Or, using a picture of a show-quality leghorn to sell production birds.

When I first started selling hatching eggs on ebay, it never occurred to me to use anyone else's pictures -- why would I use anything but pictures of my own breeding stock to advertise my birds? It seemed like common sense. I guess not for everyone.
