Well, i guess I would love to have some of your eggs just because I love chickens. I especially like the Aracunas . I have a hard time walking so I don't shop much and stay home most of the time. My chickens have become my pets and my hobby. They are the one thing that keeps me motivated to keep moving as much as possible. My hubby helps take care of them when I can't , but he doesn't love them like I do lol. I never knew I could love a silly chicken. Oh, how our lives can change. I don't know that I would deserve them any more than someone else, probably not, but they would have a forever home here with me. Good luck in deciding , and what a generous thing for you to do!!!!

What a kind thing to do!

Our family is new to chickens as of January, and we are raising them in suburbia. We are finding that a lot of people simply never thought of raising chickens in town, and have friends seriously considering this now that they know it's an option. My neighbors behind our house are going through some tough financial times right now as the husband is on dialysis and they have four children. Eggs are an acceptable source of protein for those with severe kidney problems (never knew that till recently) and I'd love to help keep them supplied with free high-quality eggs.

Beyond that, it would be awesome to have some higher-quality birds for the kids to start showing. With the harder economic times, it's important for families to have some wholesome family entertainment...we are finding our chickens to be that for us and our children.

Looking at your pictures, if we were picked, the Lavender Orpingtons and Araucanas would be top picks, though any would be great. The Lavender Orpingtons because they're beautiful and unusual and our Buffs have such a great temperament. The Araucanas because kids just love the colored eggs!

Thanks for the chance! Maybe at some point I'll be in a place to do the same.

This is very generous of you, Jody.

I have been hatching and raising birds for a friend of ours who has a family and lost his job about a year ago and is having a very hard time. I have given them birds for eggs and birds to butcher, but most of my birds are small in size (hatchery stock), so they don't provide much meat. I would love to have some good-sized Orps for this reason. If I could get enough to hatch, I could keep a couple of the pullets and let them breed with my big black Orp boy, so we could keep the cycle going. Color doesn't really matter, but I would love to have some lavendars, just so I could enjoy the eye candy while I raise them! LOL Honestly, it really doesn't matter - a mix of colors would be fine, too.

Happy hatching to whoever wins!!!!

Jenny I'd looooove to have the silkies, purely because they're beautiful. I don't really have a plan to save the world with them or finance my son's college by selling eggs from them. I just want them cause they're pretty.
