Economy stinks..how bout some free eggs? PA - WINNERS pg 14

The buff silkies are awesome. My grandson and I would love those eggs or as we stated in post # 74 we will gladly take any eggs available. I have recently become disabled and look forward to channeling my time and my energy into my chickens....Thanks and God bless.......

My DS and I would love to have any of your orpington eggs, particularly the lavender, but any would do.

We are a family of four and my husband has been laid off work since December. I am the sole provider right now, so as you can imagine, money is very tight, even when working 7 days a week. It has been difficult, but my boys, 17 & 12, are old enough to understand the hardship, and as long as there is food on the table, they don't complain too much.

I do have some hens now, and any extra eggs that I have, I give to family and friends who can use them. Most of them have children and really appreciate it. However, the hens sometimes cannot keep up with the demand.

If I was able to hatch some more pullets, I would be able to give more eggs to those who need them.

Your generosity in making this offer is really appreciated.

Thanks,
Angie

Well, I think everyone on BYC is worthy of free eggs, and I think everyone should end up sending someone free eggs just once. When I get more than 2 eggs every 3rd day, I will end up doing that.

I usually don't put down for free eggs, it feels like begging, but since I am starting my Buff Orpington and Buff Silkies projects, I feel like it's time to be humbled and ask for some of these wonderful eggs Jody and Jen are offering.

My life has been a country song the past week. My husband left me (well, for business, he'll be back), my dog died (RIP Sunnie Rose), my car broke down, I was stranded in the hot desert of Tombstone without a ride. If that's not the makings of a sad story and a country song I have more (but won't torture you with it).

My 4 kids are in 4-H and Cloverbuds, and I am a new leader. I am trying to help with the poultry leader as an assistant, and help these 4-H kids get some good birds to win at shows. My 2nd daughter, Carlie, has been begging me for some Buff Silkies to be her project, and I have ordered and bought eggs multiple times to have them be infertile, or shaken up. And ONLY the buff silkies! Frustrating! After a while you just don't have the money to spend on chances like that!

The Buff Orpington project is to continue the tradition of my husband's uncle. He has been raising Buffs for over 40 years, most likely more years than that since he's 76 now. He has won state fairs, and poultry shows with them, but has not shown or sold any for a few years now. I was admiring his birds, and told him they were beautiful, and he let me have some eggs. I don't know if they were infertile (he hadn't trimmed the vents yet and it was the first of the season), but of 48 eggs he gave me, I only have 5 Buffs, 2 with leg issues. I found out it was most likely the temperature too low, and have since upgraded my incubator to a Brinsea.

I feel the Orpingtons are a beautiful, gentle breed that needs strong breeders out there keeping the standards alive. I see too many Buffs that look more like leghorns. If I knew more about the Lavender Gene and genetics of breeding that, I would think that would be a wonderful project, but will stick with the standard Buffs for now.

That was more than one reason why I should be chosen, but I wanted to make it REALLY good, so you knew I was serious! Take care, and bless you both for sharing your wonderful birds!

I would love and greatly appreciate some eggs for hatching. I have been trying to build my flock so we can always have eggs for not only my household but my mother n law's and my daughters. I share what I can but I get 4 to 6 eggs a day. I plan to have enough to sell so it will pay for feed and the 3 households can always have fresh eggs.

I'm not picky as to what breed. What I have now are RIR, Wydonette, Barred and 1 EE. I have a few mutts that came from my own flock. I would however love to have some EE's, silkies and those lavender's you have are just beautiful. But what ever I get if I am picked will be just fine.

I also want to add that I think it is a great thing that you are doing and others here on BYC. Very generous and Thank You.

I want to wish good luck to all that respond.

Can I make a donation to help with costs? I am in the position to be able to help and I would love to have a flock of chickens, but don't have the space. I am hatching some buff org's for a guy my son works with because I like to hatch them....just can't keep them. So I would like to donate $$$ to help.

can't wait to do the same with lav's

Wow! Your Lavender chickens are beautiful. I'm on my second try at chickens. The first was when the kids were young and we had one Americana Rooster and 2 Barred Rock hens. I loved them. They were so fun to watch strut around the yard. Then some neighbor dogs came and killed them. This time I'm doing it right and building an pen for them. It's been a labor of love. I have 8 3-week olds. One Barred rock(Bell) one Buff Orpington(Cinderella), one Golden Sex Link(Fiona), one Australorp(Jasmine), one Rhode Island Red(Ariel the one footed chicken), and 3 Bantams. I know that one of the Bantams is a golden sebright(Pocahontas) but I don't know what the other 2 are(Aroura & Mulan). The kids are grown so I can't hid behind them any more, yes, "I" named them after Disney Princesses!

I am having soooo much fun with these chickies, and I'd love to try and hatch some out! It would be very exciting.
Have a great day everyone!

JENLYNN, I alreay posted, but your birds are beauty's too! For me I don't care what they are. Just w/ my RR I am not too happy with, I was told they were the best layers, and out of 8 I am lucky to get 4 eggs a day. And when I started this last year I wanted to have the eggs to sell and give to people that are having trouble in my area. My husband, mom, and I live on the eggs, unless I have a little extra for food shopping. My children, don't really like the eggs, but love the chicks, lol. So I do food shopping for them. I have two buffs and they are the best! One got an egg stuck, I think she had white milky stuff coming out of her butt. But we saved her! YAAAAA!

I just wanted to also thank everyone that has offered to help, God bless you all. I think the moms and dads of the chicks on here are nicer then the moms on club mom!

I feel blessed to be looking in my bator seeing 4 of your Pyncheons running about and rocking blue eggs. If I lived in the country I would sure tell you I needed more! LOL
