Economy stinks..how bout some free eggs? PA - WINNERS pg 14

Great Offer Hinkjc its people like you who make this world a better place. To offer somthing to others who may need these and do not have the money to do so. Thats why when someone wants eggs from me I always work with that they can pay. I feel I at one time wanted silkies so badly and could not afford some that was for sale due to I take care of 2 kids. Till I met one BYC'er who gave me the best deal on alot of silkies to help me build my own flock. Thats why Now I only make enough on my eggs/chickens to pay for their feed which is fine with me!!!

HI,

Generosity is rare in these times of hardship - you will surely be blessed.

I too, am so very fortunate to have a good home and land to have a few chooks in the yard, as they make me very happy.

I am writing for my daughter and her family. Her husband is a school janitor and she is a stay at home mom. Money is tight, and altho she could get a job to help with finances, has chosen to stay home with the 2 children while they are young, as they both have allergies. My 9 yr old grandson has severe peanut allergies, and my 2 yr old granddaughter has seafood plus the peanut.
I think they would be really happy to win, and the kids would be excited to watch as eggs were incubated and hatched. If they were chosen, I would get them a small incubator to use for this.

thanks

You are amazing! I offered free eggs a few weeks ago like you and NO one wanted them! can you believe that?? Maybe I put it in the wrong section-this came after the woman with the fire lost alot-that won free eggs-I told her I would send her some too she never got back to me!--SO I cincubated them myself and they are on day 9-moving inside like crazy!!! I dont have room either-would love them but there's always someone who needs something more than I-no matter how bad we struggle...Just wanted to say thank you for offering!

What an incredible offer! Your birds are simply stunning. I have Br's and EE's but have been looking hi and lo for non-hatchery stock blue eggs for what seems forever.
I just recently graduated from college with my R.N degree and on my very first day of work, my husband was layed off. We were pretty sure it was coming , but still, such a blow. I now have a sahd that is in the process of building a new coop, just financially I cannot justify ordering more eggs right now. That being said, I did order Silkie eggs from someone here tho, my 10 yr old has been asking for them for a year and he is an awesome kid and deserves the opportunity for his own flock. I am very fortunate with a dh and ds that help me with everything here.

I would really love the opportunity to hatch and raise either your Am's or Araucanas. I do understand the potential difficulties with the Araucanas, but even if I just got a few to hatch, we all would be thrilled. How cool would it be to open a box of eggs and see blue's.

Whomever you choose, I appreciate your offer, I just sent BR eggs to a friend in Wy,for free, because like many of us, she is in a world of hurt too, but needed eggs for her sons 4h group. Sometimes, it is just the right thing to do.

Kudos to all the wonderful people here and their generous nature with both birds and knowledge.

What a wonderful thing to do!! I feel fortunate as well, I have food, a place to live, health, and a job.

I'm pretty new here, but I've found that this forum, and the chicken/bird people are such a warm, funny, and generous group of people! Because of that, I've become pretty addicted to BYC

Welcome-Simplyscrambled!

First of all, I would like to say thank you, too. There are so many wonderful & generous people here at BYC. I think that is why the site is growing so much, because people need to see some good in this world.
I can't use any eggs right now either, I've been blessed with free eggs from several people, but I would like to nominate my sister, gingersnap6. She and I were not good friends as children, but now that we are married and live 500 miles apart, we are best friends. She had a miscarriage about a year ago, and she hasn't said much about it lately, but I know it's been bothering her. I think this would be something that would cheer her up. I don't think she would really care which breed she got, I think your birds are all beautiful.
Thank you!

Well, I know that i cant say i deserve anything for free but I would love to be considered for a project bird.

I have just finished a huge remodel on my coops into separate runs and housing. I love my birds so much that i want them to have everything the best and my children love having them around and taking care of them. Its great to see 5 little bodies out in the back screaming and running with scratch as our Buff orps play "tag" with the kids.
I never actually planned on getting chickens when two were brought and dumped at my home. At that time we had a cougar running our area (which is now gone) and i was so worried I made my DH and some friends build a coop in the middle of the night for them! I now have over an acre dedicated to my 100+ chickens that are like family.
I am also obsessed with orps! Its my childrens favorite. I am going through the process of the paperwork to get some eggs from England but it is a long process and very costly. I would love to have some lavender orps to keep the project going since i have an extra coop and run, made like Fort Knox and plush like the Hilton LOL...

Thanks for doing this for everyone. You are very generous and your birds are beautiful!

What a lovely thing for you to do. You know I love your Orpingtons as I have several of your Buffs running around the ranch. I would love some of your Lavender Orpingtons to go with the rest of my various colored Orpingtons - some standards and some projects. I have been working with my Orpington breeding program for five years. My birds are my therapy and help keep me sane in this crazy world.

It is difficult for me to write what an awful month I have had. In a nut shell, my husband fell off the back of our flat bed truck while feeding the cattle. Although we didn't know it immediately, he actually hit his head and now has mild brain injury. We have been in and out of hospitals and doctor's offices, and have found that most medical people don't know how to handle this type of injury. He is improving, however short term memory is very impaired thus he thinks he does things such as feeding the animals because he thought about it but it actually never gets done. I have to make sure he eats, turns off vehicles, shut gates and doors, etc. because he does not remember to do it. The very same day that my husband was put in the hospital we received a phone call from our daughter that she was having surgery to have a finger amputated. Of course she was very upset, and wanted some Mommie comfort, and I couldn't be there for her as she lives in Washington State. She broke, smashed her finger in an accident several months ago and had two previous surgeries to repair the damage, however it didn’t work and finger became infected and had to be removed.

With all this I am so very thankful because things could have been so much worse. I am so very thankful that both my husband and daughter are recovering. I am thankful for the wonderful family and friends that have offered help and comfort. I am thankful that I have my health, a good job, and medical insurance. I also am thankful for the BYC forum that helps take my mind off my problems for a little while, offers such a variety of information, and have afforded me an extended family. I am thankful for all my lovely animals and poultry that I can enjoy everyday.

Jody, if you should decide that I am the lucky recipient of your wonderful gift then I would be overjoyed. Thank you once again for this kindness.

Happy days for whoever is chosen.

I had a fire and lost 6 chooks, but am so sorry that i did not see your offer. I lost track of my post and was so busy getting the coop fixed ,caring about the hurt ones.etc.

Thank you for offering the eggs to me, that was very kind of you. i have an old Roll X that I purchased last year and never used - was trying to sell it or trade it last week, then when running it prior to mailling - discovered that it was not heating correctly, so am going to buy the one that was offered for it., - so I actually didn't have a running incubator at that time.

Again, thanks for your offer, and I don't want you to think that it would not have been appreciated if I had seen it then.

God Bless.
