EE don't have to be cross breeds. IMO there's still hatcheries selling poorly bred color crossed ameraucanas. Those are being labeled EE here.
There's also ameraucana breeders here that sell their culls as EE.
The real issue is that they aren't a breed just a label. And that label has been brushed with a wide brush.
EE can be
Any color
Any egg color
Any comb type
Any shank color
Muffs and or beards or neither
Sounds to me like at this point any bird could be labeled an EE.
