While it's unfortunate you didn't end up with what you thought you were buying, EEs aren't anything to scoff at. They're very popular, and with good reason. 
My Ameraucana was over $20. But she’s so sweet she’s worth it and she hasn’t even started laying yet. I can’t wait.I agree, EE.
Ameraucanas are a standard breed with specific colors and other requirements and are often mislabeled. That's where all the confusion comes from. I don't know why hatcheries, farmers and farm stores can't just call Easter Eggers, Easter Eggers. It's just so confusing and sometimes even disappointing for chicken keepers
The main rule of thumb I use to determine if it's a true ameraucana or not, is if it labeled as a specific color variety, then it's an ameraucana. In your case though it was labeled as Brown Red. Look at reliable (ameraucana alliance or ABC website) pics of real brown reds and you'll notice they look a bit different.
Some are, but most of the EEs in hatcheries are easter egger x easter egger crosses.
oh, I knew that. I just thought she was asking if it was a Ameraucana mix, (which even if you bred 2 EE's they would still be Ameraucana mixes, because that is what an EE is... right?)
