Why would someone attack you about a discussion on Easter eggers?:hugs There is nothing wrong if you regard them as a breed. Some hatcheries, e.g. "MyPetChicken" easter eggers aren't even hybridized.
Thank you! I didnt know what I could possibly be getting myself into when I replied to this thread so I just wanted to be safe. But thank you again for your kindness!

befotre I got all ‘fowled’ up with spelling... I was attempting to make a distinction between ‘breed’ and ‘recognized breed’ meaning recognized by a poultry association... I think that might be the hair being split on this topic.

As far as I know EEs are not a ‘recognized breed’

I love that they are all so different. If they arnt a breed, makes me wonder what made up my girls!

In much the same thread, think of Labradoodles.
They have a general look, certain characteristics, and are widely known.
They are made from recognized breeds.
Ask a person what breed their labradoodle is, they will say labradoodle.
So really the question is in the public, not in the papers.
Are EE a breed? Depends on who you ask.
Are labradoodles a breed? Same answer.
I like this post! It really depends on how you see your EE, OP. :)

Those 2 on the right definitely aren't EE's. They have rose combs and are very fat like Wyandottes. Easter Eggers also have green legs, yours don't.

But that's the thing about easter eggers... They can have any comb and any leg color. One of my EEs has green legs and a pea comb, but no muffs or beard... and lays mint green eggs. My other is fully muffed and bearded, but has slate legs.... (her parents were a lav Ameraucana under a black breasted red araucana). EEs can also have crests and a single comb... if they're blue egg gene came from a legbar...
