Hi everyone, my button quail has been egg bound now for 2 days and at this point i think shes given up. I put her in a warm bath and also but coconut oil in her bottom. I have felt the egg in her tummy and its bigger than i have ever seen before its honestly massive for her size. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what i can do to help her.

If you get desperate, you can pierce the egg with a needle on a syringe and suck out the contents. Then gently crush the shell and extract it. Maybe with some fine tweezers? Button quail are so small it might be difficult. Otherwise offer calcium. It helps strengthen muscle contractions to get it out. And the warm baths.

No progress so far its been 4 days now, im surprised shes holding up. I tried to squeeze the egg out of her but had no luck. Ill be trying the syringe method tomorrow and hope for the best. Quick question though, will cracking the egg inside of her harm her ?

Not if you're gentle. You just want to break it enough to get out, hopefully in one piece. It's a last resort to be sure but she'll die if the egg doesn't come out. If you have an exotics vet and the money, a vet can do it. I've removed eggs or shells from chickens. Nothing as small as a button quail. They perked immediately back up as soon as the egg/shell was out.
