Egg bound??

Hi there! Sometimes my ducks get car sick when I have to take them in.

Here’s a video I took this past fall of giving meds. It’s long though, sorry

That is a GREAT video! I never would have thought to get my finger wet so the pill will stick a bit, and he is the cutest duck isn’t he! Thank you!

great video! Thank you for doing that. I'm sure it will help lots of us!

I've been giving my ducks calcium citrate but could only find it in a pill form so I grind it up in my coffee bean grinder and sprinkle it over something wet like tomatoes or melon.

I just back from vets. Breathing sounds are great, no mention of her retaining water, but she does have a reproduction infection and inflammation. Was given chloramphenicol pills 250mg twice a day and Rimadyl (liquid form 1.5 ml) twice a day. Both meds given for 14 days.

I need to up the protein and beta carotene in her diet. She recommends scrabble eggs(not hers but another flock members eggs) cooked in coconut oil. Carrots and sweet potatoes for the beta and lots more Vitamin A intake too.

Wow thats good information. Your vet is better than mine! Mine just said she might never lay again and spaying is an option but last resort. I called her today to see if she could give me liquid antibiotics and haven’t heard back. As it turns out, my ducks are strict health food eaters only, no bread. Sigh. You should have seen the night crawler covered in amoxicillin powder flying through the living room this morning! No one wanted it. What a disaster.

I’m sorry to hear your girl is sick, let’s pray they both have a full recovery!

Thanks so much for posting , maybe between the 2 vets we can get our girls healthy!
