We are awaiting our first set of eggs to hatch. They should be only a day or three away from finish. I have noticed all of a sudden one has some sort of leakage at the top. Not sure what it is. Should I be seeing anything like this at this time or do I have a bad egg ? There is a smell to it but not real strong. Would'nt a bad egg show signs prior to 19th day? Thanks

leaking, seeping bad egg...I had one of those...weeped...I wiped it off thinking ok no big deal...later weep again...everyone said bad egg take it out of the bator or contaminates the rest...

I did, I opened the egg to see if there was a chick in it...bad mistake, the minute I did...it more or less exploded and I had this bad horrible smell I couldnt get off my hands arms for hours!!!! even scrubbing ....the water in there was black...

So in your experiance we have a bad egg and we should never see any leakage from our eggs prior to pipping stage correct? Thanks

We have had them in for 17 days. We have tried candeling but don"t know what we are looking at. They are brown eggs from our RIRs. Thanks

Weeping/leaking and a bad smell, however faint, are bad signs, and you need to chuck the egg ASAP as to not compromise the entire hatch.

Yes we placed them large end up. We bought a Hovabator with egg turner since we both work days. Temp and humidity have stayed right on the marks.
