A friend of mine has a few Araucana/Americana. They were laying eggs for a few months. And now that it has gotten colder and not as much daylight they stopped. He was just wondering if there was anything to do to help them get back into egglaying. Thanks.

Yep, you need 14 hours of daylight for optimun laying. Placing a light in the coop with the added time needed set with a simple timer does the job.Simply add the extra time in the AM hours, so the flock can go to normal roost works best. I think a timer set to go on at 2am and off at 8am will do the job. I'm in Wi, so days may be longer or shorter where you are?
