Egg Song! Glorious Egg Song!

 THE  EGGS  SONG,   gosh we never  get  the  egg  song  hardly  ever...?  but  we have lots of  eggs...? like 4 eggs a day  from  5 chickens  who have started  laying  at 17.5  weeks old  up until now, 4 are barred rocks  & one  wyandott  2 weeks  younger,  but  NO egg  song , no singing  hardly ever ,  thats a bit  strange...?  isnt it..?   the other day my young  wyandott  Bee Bee  19 WEEKS  laid an egg and just  walked away,  with  no song or  nothing , I knew  she had been laying eggs  for  the last  week i have seen her , so  she was  leaving the nest  box  when my barred  rock  Henryetta 2 weeks older  was  watching  Bee Bee the  wyandott  leave  the nest  box and she  started to sing the egg  song for  Bee Bee ...?...lol... and she  kept  on singing the egg song , UNTIL  Bee Bee who  was about  6 feet  away  by  then , just  stopped &  looked at Henryetta , that  was  when  she  began to sing the egg song  with  Henryetta ....lol.....  sooo  wow  that was  corn  fusing.....lol..  to see  one  hen  tell the other hen to come on  sing   the  egg  song .....lol... could  it   be  that  the egg  song is  a learned  behavior...???? or that maybe some chickens   dont  know the  words...???   ....lol....  but  who can tell..?   geeezzz.  it s  like  asking  what  came  first the chicken or the egg,  or  who  sang the  first  egg  song ? ...lol... ...lol........but   today Bee Bee  laid another egg  I was  there  & saw her , my  girls lay most of their eggs between  9:AM  & 11: AM, then i give them all treats , but today  again  nothing  no  singing..?  just an egg  but  no egg  song....?? she just left  the nest box  &  walked  away , but gosh what happened  to  the egg  song...? :/ ......lol...... ?????   geee   i miss  hearing the egg  song

THE EGG SONG , well today it was sooo different then yesterday, could it be that our hens must have known i had been complaining about no egg songs from them....lol..hahaha

i could hardly believe my ears this morning , they were sing the egg song at the top of their lungs....lol... could it be possible the egg song is about the age of the chickens...? my barred rocks are barely 20 weeks old and the wyandotts are even younger, so TODAY this one barred rock had laid an egg & that same barred rock as yesterday was watching her when she came out of the nest box, and she the one who didn't lay the egg had started in singing the egg song AGAIN, like she did yesterday for the wyandott, so when she started to sing the egg song again today 8 other chickens were all sing the eggs song along with her including the one who laid the egg & even some of the hens who were out side all began to sing the egg song it seemed like it lasted for 3 to 5 minutes ,and they were very very loud.....lol....

it was was sooo funny my hubby & I just stood in the door way laughing & listening to them all carry on..!! ....lol...

Chickens are just so funny....go figure! My one BA I call Ms. Neurotic (another story, another time) laid a beautiful large egg today. I picked it up, finished what I was doing, and headed into the house all the while saying "what a beauty she laid today".....Got in the kitchen and I don't know how I didit, but my hand hit the edge of the counter and there it went....tumbling to the floor...I couldn't BELIEVE I did that!!

guess what. ..I now have a second broody lol. I swear it must be contagious! I think hubby is giving up the battle though. I said I was going to give her eggs and he just said ok. Didn't ask how many and I didn't tell. I just gave her 6 lol. I'm just hoping nobody else goes broody. I don't need an entire second flock of chicks at the beginning of winter!

I think it is contagious. My two Marans went broody about a day apart, then the BO a couple of days later.
The chicks are now 2 weeks, and the BO looks like she wants to lay, but hasn't resumed yet.

Oh my goodness. I hate when that happens too! I have broken an egg or two on accident and each time it makes me so mad at myself!
