Egg Song! Glorious Egg Song!

Clorida, my chick marleyXhybrid, has been camping the nest box for three days. This morning we woke up to the most raucous egg song imaginable. You'd have thought they were firing eggs out like a gatling gun.

Not a one.

Is this normal for young hens?

Yep, it's normal alright! You'd think they were dying sometimes!! Just keep a close eye on her...she will lay that egg when you least expect it!!

Honestly, we did at first! It was so loud it woke us out of a dead sleep. We both leapt straight out of bed, flailing about in utter confusion. It's a good thing our neighbor sleeps in the front of his house, or he would have had quite a wake-up as well - and probably would have given us a right ticking off!

My girls today are doing the craziest things in the coop! I've got three of them in there just bwoking their heads off INSANELY! Been going on now for over 2 hours! Several times it sounded like the egg song. I go out there, and there's all three of them staring at me...I'm not kidding, they are flat going beserk today!

The mystery deepens. My wife put a fake egg in the nestbox last night, and now it's gone. We can't find it anywhere in the coop or the run.

Also, no-one pooped all night. At all. The fresh hay we put in is still completely clean. I had to double check with my wife that they were actually in the coop when she shut the door last night.

I have two EE's (Jane & Geraldine) & two Golden Laced Wyndottes (Betty & Dorothy). One of my GLW's has been 'squatting' around me a lot lately but I wasn't sure what she was doing. Then yesterday I found 2 yolks in the nesting box. No shells. All four ladies's Hatchday is April 9th. I've been on Egg Watch for weeks now. I haven't noticed anyone sing the Egg Song yet though. I guess any day now I should expect eggs? So excited! I love my girls!!! I treat them like my babies & they run to me when they see me & follow me everywhere. They've even tried to get in my car with me!
