Eggs are here :)Paganbirds and MagsC's hatching thread!!UpdateMarch16!

I didn't have any luck with the guinea egg I tried to hatch, either. I made it to lockdown, but it never hatched.
Yes, the peas are harder to hatch. I haven't had one hatch yet. Of course, they've all been shipped. I think the larger the egg... the more difficult it is to hatch after shipping.
I have one of my silkie chicks out

downstairs & about 8 more eggs pipped... including a BLRW egg!
I hope this hatch goes well since it's my last for a while.

Hey Mags...I am really sorry guineas didn't hatch....I don't understand why tho....guineas are supposed to be one of the easiest things to hatch...I am just confused....

Congrats Paganbird on the new babies!!

Silkies...they are such sweet little ones!
Mary, its confused the heck out of me too but I in no WAY blame you. I am sure shipping has something to do with it. I am going to try again, there has to be SOME way to do it. I wont give up.
My aunt said the guineas were easy for her to hatch too.

On a happier note, I just got a notice that Scott from Ozark bantams shipped my black cochin banty eggs!!

Mags... let me know when you get the peafowl eggs. I'd like to know how your hatch goes.

I just checked the 'bator. All the eggs hatched but 6. Of the remaining 6, three have pips.
So far I have...
CrescentWood eggs:
10 sizzle silkie mixes
2 leghorn mixes
(2 more leghorn eggs left... one has a pip)
Chickenzoo eggs:
1 black orp
1 BLRW
2 SLW
1 bantam cochin (black)
2 salmon faverolles
2 black silkies (nice vaulted skulls!)
1 frizzle (black?)
The "I" egg hatched... the chick looks chipmunk-colored. I'll have to post a pic to see what it might be.
(4 eggs left... a pipped frizzle, a pipped WCRP, a JG, and a BLRW

One of the 2 leghorns has hatched. The last one still hasn't pipped.
The frizzle is zipping.

My last hatch is finally over.
Of my CrescentWood eggs (my own eggs) I set 14... and 14 hatched!!!
Of the chickenzoo eggs, I set 18... 3 were clear... 15 into lockdown... and 14 hatched!!!
So... my final statistics are 28/29 or 97%

I'll take some pics tomorrow. I still haven't uploaded my button quail broody pics.
I need to take pics of the mystery chick so chickenzoo can tell me what it is!

I AM NO A GUINEA HATCHING FAILURE AFTER ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just came home and was taking care of the birds when I kept hearing this persistent PEEEEEEEP, louder than any chick. At first I thought it was everyone happy to see me (which they WERE) but I soon figured out, it was not coming from the brooders.
I looked into the incubator, FIVE guinea keets!!!! However, only two are doing really well, the other three I quickly got fluids into and in a separate hospital brooder.
I dont know how I missed the date, if I calculated wrongly or they were just late eggs....but anyway, I now have hatched guineas for the very first time after three failures.

Paganbird, congrats on your hatches, are you sure you are strong enough not to incubate any more for now, lol?

And I will keep you updated on the peafowl hatch.
I have those duck and chicken eggs coming this week so have time tomorrow to disinfect this incubator. I will have two I am going to use for those, the other incubator is currently being occupied by button quail eggs.
