Eggs arrived in sad conditions...

Please check the air cells before contacting the seller. If you have any that are scrambled, I wouldn't set them. I like to trace my air cells with a pencil so I can easily see which ones are rolling (marked with and R), which ones are saddled (traced air cell including the saddle) and which ones look best. The seller needs to know how bad this is and I hope they'll reimburse you, send more or at least take responsibility. I'm so sorry

I hope you contacted the seller and took pictures of the mess that resulted in their poor packing
I did. She is refunding me and feels terrible. I am not super upset. I'm glad I have some that survived. I can't blame her heavily, my posy office are very mean to most of my parcels I have sent through the mail. I've had boxes look like they were ran over before! Seriously!

I know this might sound crazy, but I've heard of some folks asking the seller to clearly mark the box with something like "Happy 5th birthday! Love, Grandma". There are a lot of folks out there that will respect that more and want the package to get to the recipient in the best shape possible, thinking it's a gift from a respected Grandma. I am so grateful that I have an awesome team at my local post office but I've heard of some that are absolutely horrible.

I had eggs shipped to me in North Carolina, all the way from California! No breaks and even had a couple of hatchers. That was a shock but honestly I didn't even realize the seller was in CA whenever I placed the order. Shipped eggs are at a disadvantage just from being shipped, especially these days. Many folks use their automatic turners but the times I've received eggs that looked like that, I turn by hand. I wish you the best. Please update us on how many you end up setting and how many hatch 💜 I'd love to know. I wish you the very best

Used my incubator candler to check the air cells and look for broken yolks. I think they're pretty good. The air cells mostly stay in one space, some jiggle a bit but don't leave their place as I tilt the eggs. I see good solid air sacs on quite a few. How do you think they look?

I love the NR360! One of my favorite incubators 💜 From what I can tell, the air cells look pretty good for the way everything initially looked. It seems like a few are saddled, but that's generally not going to be a huge issue as long as you rest them. I'll tag an amazingly knowledgeable and kind young lady that may have more info to share @MGG

Oh gosh, this packing job made me so sad. Especially since some of the components of a great pack are right there. Individually bubble-wrapping is crucial if they're going to be loose like that. And the outer substrate really needs to be thick enough to withstand the inevitable postal abuse. Plastic grocery bags just won't cut it. I've seen wood shavings work well. I need to start taking photos... I'm impressed with ebay sellers' creativity, lol.

For what it's worth, I don't rest shipped eggs outside the incubator at all unless they're 5 days old or less. I just incubate them pointy end down with the turner off for the first 3-5 days. I just had a great hatch with shipped eggs 10-11 days old, though, so I'm starting to think age is less a factor if the eggs are from good hardy stock.

Well the babies rested overnight. I popped them over the light this afternoon and I'm glad to see most of the saddled air sacs have settled and none of them look damaged, still. Should I set them in the incubator (NR360) on the side like the incubator is intended or use egg carton butts to hold them upright for a few days more while the air sacs get better stuck?

If anyone is still interested or following, I just turned the eggs by hand today and set them in a cut up egg carton to try not to rock/dislodge the air cells. I'm not sure how long to do this before I place them down on their sides like the incubator instructions.

But! I see development in some of the eggs just from 24hrs! I candled them before bed since I had it open to turn anyway.

Baby silkie A (yellow A) looks so different already! I think it's formed a "blood island"? Means I should see veins tomorrow? 💛

A couple of the silkies don't have much definition yet but I didn't expect to see anything this soon anyway!

I'm worried about the Brahma babies (blue letters). I don't see anything yet in them like I can the silkies... though they do have darker shells. But the last baby, D, the air cells still moves a LOT. If I tilt the egg it moves along with it. All the way down the side of the egg etc. Is there any hope for it?
