Eggs for food vs eggs for chicks...sound off please

Unfortunately I know too many people who are turned off by the idea of fresh eggs. My biggest irritation with it is that they cannot place an actual sensible reason!
I get "eww! Just...because! Eww!" Eww? Really? Are you 4? Lmbo "that's just...no thanx i'll get mine where I know..." WAIT FOR IT!..."they are safe"! Safe! Safe?
At that point I give up. By then I have exhausted my legitimate, educated and provable points. (I am newer to RAISING my own but have eaten local farm eggs on and off for most of my memory).

So...more for me! Lol

Now I could understand "ewe!" if the environment the birds are kept in is gross. However, when it's clear that the environment our birds are in is clean (likely far cleaner than commercial facilities) and their food source is safe and healthy, it is just a ridiculous claim that fresh eggs are uunsafe. Sorry to hear that you have met such people...

I'm from Connecticut I also have been raising meat rabbits for as long as I could remember but that's a whole nother animal..... I don't even mention that to people unless they mention it first hahaha

Off topic further but...quick funny..,
My mom shot rabbits that ate her roses when I was a kid. We ate them. Well she and dad did. I was mortified cuz...cute bunnies!! I refused. Eventually I learned I had eaten many lol. Flash forward, I was employed as a cook learning from an amazing chef at a biological station (university annex). The day I had to braise these locally harvested and frozen rabbits (like 80 of them) in a tilt skillet near did me in. They still looked like...bunnies! But...my word were they incredibly delish the way he prepared them. So, yup, I eat anything. As long as it is humanely raised and harvested and I know where it came from lol

Precisely. And I think if people were open-minded enough to just learn both commercial and farm raising techniques there would be a lot more ewww at the stores!

I've raised and processed them for YEARS, I DONT LEAVE THE HEADS LOL. I still have a hard time sometimes but they are soooo good if prepared correctly

They were headless and no feet. Skinned as well. But there is no mistaking the shape of a rabbit laid out like it is prancing lol. There were several who wouldn't eat the braised delicious meat chunks (off the bone and over pilaf) so they got eggplant lasagna hahahaha

Don't know with whom or when the " Don't Eat Fertilized Eggs " started, but it is ridiculous! Well then, Don't drink milk cause that's an UTTER EXCRETION! Don't eat Honey cause that's Bee VOMIT! Don't eat Organic Vegetables because they are Fertilized with COW POOP! Don't eat Cheese because it made with BACTERIA and MOLD! Don't eat Mushrooms because they are FUNGUS! Don't drink Spring Water because Animals POOP IN THE WOODS! Don't eat Imported Asian Rice because the People who pick it, POOP IN THE PADDY'S! I wish had could raise more meat around here. We do raise quail for meat and eggs. In fact I have 38 quail eggs set hatch in the next week, many of which are meant for meat. We would like to get into rabbits. I know somebody through BYC about 1.5 hours away who is breeding rabbits, so I may get into them soon. I would really like to get more land one day and raise goats and sheep, as well as more chickens, ducks and turkeys for meat rather than just eggs and pets.
