Eggshell that had stamp ink ok?

Out of curiosity, why are you saving eggshells? If it's for calcium in the future, and maybe it's just my own paranoia, but I wouldn't feed them anything that came from a chicken that wasn't mine.

I've heard that hens will preferentially eat eggshell over oyster shell. And that you need to heat them up in the microwave or oven for safety.

I'm still figuring out WHAT to do ... trying to start planning ahead because the chicks are about ready to go out to the coop, not that they need the calcium now.

They prefer it but it's not the best supplement.
OS will last longer in the gizzard, egg shells go right thru.
I do rinse, air dry, and crush egg shells tho....I mix them in with the OS.
You don't even really need to wash or cook them, I rinse and dry because I save up a bunch before crushing.
Some folks just chuck them out in the run right after breakfast....won't 'create' egg eaters.
I don't process hard boiled shells, they don't crush up easily in my pestle.
