Eh, this whole greeting business

I think it's WONDERFUL that you take the time to do that

Yup, it is great that you welcome the newbies!! It really makes a huge difference to someone who is just joining a community, especially one as big and busy as BYC!

Our "greeter" award is suppose to be based on quantity and "quality" of welcoming posts. Honestly, longer and personalized is better... especially compared to copy/paste welcomes (which are still better than nothing).

The greeter award is a bit messy right now, but we're trying to do a better job to make sure the peeps that get it are the cream of the welcoming crop!

I think it's a really good incentive, this greeting award. I'm not doing it for the award though, I like how newbies actually appreciate the time you take to give them a good long welcome, it's like I'm not ignored over there

Me, a GFM? Hoo boy, I wish!

I don't think I'll ever have the chance to get one though, I'm not familiar with the process of buying things online.

Because of the long posts, I find I don't have the time to reply to all of the threads. I feel kinda bad because there are some I've neglected... I usually start with the ones that've cropped up that I feel I have the most to say to. I guess that's one of the benefits of having a short greeting you can put on every thread.

It's great to hear from the newbies starting to post around other parts of the forum too.

Hey, Peeps.... do I sense the GFM coming from your direction?

I'm sorry-I went back and looked at your posts. It doesn't look like you ever posted in the "new member" forum. I like to welcome new members WHENEVER I see one, but I don't always look at post count. I DO welcome new members in the "new member" forum, however, and I have NEVER seen a thread there get ignored.

I write long posts too, because I feel bad just putting
welcome-byc.gif
without any specifics as to who the new member is. If they give info about themselves in their introductory post then I try to write back commenting on that info.

I've never been much of a greeter. I'm decent at humor, but unfortunately, my type of humor is sarcasm, which has a tendency to offend others.

Plus, I'm generally completely oblivious when a new person shows up.
