Nice animals. I remember the elk herds from living and hunting in Washington state. They are a magnificent animal.

Hahah, those things you don't have to own out here. . . Just own land and voila! We even have albinos, but sadly people tend to shoot them really early.

As long as it's not a boy elk. They tend to be ill-tempered.

There are a couple elk farms south of us and we are saving up money to get a side of elk. I'm hoping they let us have bones for the dogs too. I want to see my akita with an elk leg. She got a whole cow femur when she was younger and it was as long as she was.

There's some elk farms near us. A few specialty meat stores carry elk/pork sausage and every Mobil station from Bay City to Mackinaw City in northern Michigan sells elk jerky. We eat it occasionally but it's a little to expensive to buy on a regular basis. The stores that sell it mainly cater to the tourists.
