EMERGENCY|| Duck attacked

One of our ducks, Quackers, was attacked last night. She couldn’t get away because she has a lame leg. Luckily my sister and her fiancé showed up and found her. She’s almost finished with nursing school so she was able to stop the bleeding. I’ve cleaned the wounds the best I can for now until someone can help trim back her feathers to get a better view. Flushed each wound with a sterile saline solution followed by Vetericyn and some Neosporin to keep the bandages from sticking. She has clean comfortable bedding, fresh food and water with electrolytes and vitamins, and a heating pad. She can stand and move and I think she’ll pull through but is there anything else y’all recommend? We have no poultry savvy vets near us. Photos of her will be included so don’t look if you don’t like blood.

Oh poor baby. It sounds to me like she has an excellent care crew. I wish her a speedy recovery! I think she will be okay.

Awe. It sounds like you are doing everything you can. I would definitely check for puncture wounds.
I would also secure whatever she's in where she got attacked. So that once she's back outside it doesn't happen again.

I think you're already doing a great job for her. The wounds on her body should heal just fine. The only thing I would be concerned about is the leg.

It's difficult to tell from the angle of the photos but is the leg broken? I would definitely try to find an avian vet or farm vet in your area to at least get some x-rays.

Her leg was deformed when she was hatched, that’s one of the main reasons we got her. We saw her and knew she’d probably end up getting killed because she was lame. The deformity causes no pain though, just makes her a little slower at getting around. Unfortunately there are no poultry friendly vets near me which is why I’ve become handy at detecting breaks and healing injuries! Thank you so much for your kind words though, I just wanted to make sure I’m doing everything I can!
