It wouldn't surprise me at all. If you look closely at the wound the edges of skin are pink and clean and not torn - as if an abcess or something had formed a sack that opened up when she was messing with it. "Fell off" had to be something contained inside the crop. It doesn't appear to be damaged other than the skin is gone.
Listen, if they have bras for chickens, then certainly this wound can be reoaired with a skin graft.
The after care is what will make the difference, proper feed, grit, etc

Vet Got a fresh crop from a hen which was just cut and that will be attached via sutures.

I doubt the vet slaughtered a bird to get their crop.

So what are you saying then? The vet just cut one off of another live chicken? One died at the exact right time to harvest another crop?
