Okay I will do. Another question, is the sugar mixture still as effective if they just drink it from the dropper? If not, why so? Also update: the two baby chicks that were doing that are now also gasping for air. Duck isn’t gasping for air anymore, but she is still lethargic. What does this mean? Also, one of those two chicks that are gasping for air didn’t start doing that until late late yesterday night. @azygous

I know it has been mentioned before, but does the brooder give them enough space to get away from the heat? The way they regulate their temperature is to cluster under the lamp if they are too cool and around the circumference of the brooder if they are too warm. If the brooder is too small they can't get themselves to a safe temperature.

yes, i’ve adjusted the heat lamp to where they can get out of the heat if needed. I also reduced the temperature to 80, since they are a week old.

I’ve lost two more but now i’m down to two and they’re doing pretty good. I just wish it wouldn’t had taken me that long to figure out what I was doing. :(

I am so impressed that those two survived! In my experience chicks are super fragile. It seems as if one gust of wind in the wrong direction can be their down fall. Especially when they are in a brooder instead of with a mama hen. In all of my years I have never successfully saved any of my chicks when they got sick. It seems that the younger they are the harder they are to keep alive. You must be such a great chicken parent! Even if they don’t make it the fact that through it all they survived so long and appear to be doing better is amazing. So now that everything appears to be more under control what are your plans? Are you going to raise these chicks and just leave it at that or do you think maybe you might be willing to try getting more chicks someday?

So, I accidentally fed my baby chicks mealworms, corn, and other feed that wasn’t right for theor age. Now two of their crops are swollen and one of them is having trouble breathing. I don’t know what to do and I terrified of loosing these babies. :( Can someone PLEASE help me figure out what is going on?????
Mine have always eaten corn after three weeks because I always keep grit and shell and let them out so they can get some grit naturally

I'm glad to hear it, thanks for the update. Keep coming back with your questions, keep learning and you'll just get better! Everyone here is willing to help and wants you to succeed, and nobody has 100% success, not even mama hens. :hugs
