I flipped her upside down to look down her throat for obstruction. Didn’t see anything so poured a little water down there to see how she would react (don’t worry, not water boarding or anything but seemed worth a shot if she was choking). She shook it off but she’s perked up since. She’s walking around, scratching and eating. Stopped craning. Comb has linked up. Waiting for her to poop to see what that looks like.

No vets in the area have chicken vets. Called the local feed store, no luck. Waiting for a call back from UC Davis.

She could have some sort of cardiovascular disease, such as heart failure, but I agree that she should see a vet. Cardiovascular problems can also cause digestive issues, due to limited blood flow to the intestines.

When you say 'craning'...do you mean stretching the neck out and around with beak open? Often called 'gaping', they do it to adjust crop contents.

Glad that others could help and make suggestions on a vet. Also, glad she is acting better after drinking. Hopefully, she got some feed or something temporarily stuck in her airway. Let us know what happens if you see a vet.

Yes she was stretching her neck out with beak open, not making any sounds. Didn’t stretch it around, just straight out. And she would close her eyes when she did it. I have her in isolation with food and fresh water in case it is something contagious.
