I love my two emus, they follow us around like dogs. I raised them up around the chickens and peafowl so they know who's boss. They don't need s much room as people think. we have 2 on 1 acre. They do love to run but most of the time they lay around with the chickens. They do not eat as much as you would think either as adults. I spend more on my chickens. Mine are very good natured and the female, jazzy, comes up and lays her head on my chest for hugs, she'd still climb in your lap if you'd let her. They are great w/others too and are very curious. I warn people not to wear bright patterns or any jewerly around them, if so they will be endlessly investagated and picked at, not out of meanness, but curiosity. They love playing with my hair clips and combing through my hair, just have to watch the ears sometimes. They have grown up with kids and enjoy playing chase w/them and are so funny to watch. They have NEVER been aggressive to us, only cats, chickens and dogs they do not know that come in our yard without warning, once they know they belong there they leave them alone.I think it is how you raise them and with what.

See, I need and emu, but my husband would have a herd of purple cows if I hatched out one. I'm pushing my luck as it is with the turkeys. At least he's used to them by now. Maybe when we retire I'll hatch a couple out and tell him they're grandchildren substitutes.

Dangerouschicken...I don't think we'll be getting any more photos of her emu because she already gave it away to a new home.

We have Red & white, black & white, and blue and white holsteins. A purple one would fit right in!
