English Shepherd as Poultry Guardian

Seen that many times where games would slip into doghouse to loaf on a sleeping dog.

Pups and Honey moved into kennel inside barn. It was a big parade with kids and I carrying bowls, bedding, feed and puppies. Ben and Honey walked along as part of group. We walked so slow the hens and pullets walked with us a good part of way. Puppies immediately started exploring kennel and had no trouble getting in and out of dog house. Pups and chickens intermingled well. Pups have to look up to see eyes of 9 week juvenile game chickens. Honey just has to look at chickens in coop to cause them to walk out of door. When I left she was curled up with pups in dog house as they suckled. I need to make her another place to lay down while confined in kennel so she can relax.

Very shortly after post above I came down with an intestinal bug. Just coming back into the living. Ben and Lucy going to barn just to check on puppies now. Honey has to do no more than look at chickens to make them run. She is not fooling when it comes to who the puppy food is for.

Puppies now coming out into main part of barn pushing through chickens to see what the chickens are eating.

Sorry to hear you are stuck in hospital, hope you are back to normal soon. I can only imagine your frustration with so much activity around the pups now. I am glad you were able to have them settled before this though.
Wind forecast here tomorrow also with 50mph gusts... I have the day off and will be cooking for a dinner my husband is going to Thursday (I work 24 hrs Thanksgiving, so no dinner for me till the weekend). Hopefully no major tree issues messing with my cooking plans.

We did a lot better than 50 mph gusts. Pens in orchard took a mayor hit. Wife can find only one and it was 1/8 mile away. Soil in orchard too soft for anchors used. I need to escape this place to get back and fix things.

We use railroad ties as anchors. A pain to move into place but nothing moves after they are tied down.

Rail road ties may not have been enough for this. 6 pens and 3 stags totally missing. Seventh pen destroyed. Wife did not notice swimming pool was gone. I found it far enough away to need a truck. Crap.
