Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Hello Everyone! Maggiesdad, are you planning on breeding the solid whites together? Plus I'd like to see them plum colored eggs :)
I've not had any lay anything like that.

Hi James.....I was getting worried that you had moved to Spain to "Really" do the EO thing. I have read and read and read some more. This durned thread just makes me more anxious for those babies but it is great to learn more about them....do you have a time table on them yet? Mike

Probably not, I'm scared of getting them too inbred way too quick. What I've got are brothers and sisters or half brothers and sisters...
The girls that threw the whites laid 4 wks later and don't come anywhere close to laying like my best two girls do. That said, I'll be watching them to see how they compare to the others in weight gain and laying ability. Since I know that rooster has the recessive white in him, I may put those girls back in the pen with him next year just to hatch some more out. My main goal is to work on type for the first couple years. This year's hatchings was just to get my feet wet.

FromWhitedoghill- It won't be to much longer. I've moved the girls to a huge brand new setup with auto waterers and feeders. Got new nesting boxes put in that I custom built so I don't have to reach inside no more. Now its just the matter of them getting acquainted with the new crib :)

I hear ya. My whites have not gotten very big? Not saying there's nothing there to tinker with though
