Actually, I forgot to tell you guys about the duck eggs. Went home one day last week and one had exploded in the bator. After debate on what to do, we decided to abort the bator over opening it up in the house and smelling it forever. So, we just disposed of all the eggs. We will try again in the spring.

Then we have come home the last few days with one of our ducks missing. Well, not really, she is hanging out in the duck house. She is freaking broody!!

It will be the beginning of December before those babes will hatch! Is she nuts???? I guess this unusually warm weather lately has really thrown her off.

noooooo-you threw them all away! ahhhh

well I guess with a nasty exploided egg I would have done the same smelly thing!

OMG I am not sure how I'd even clean the Brinsea if an egg exploded. Pew. Knowing me, though, I'd have tried to keep the rest going if it was after the first two or three days, LOL.

Sounds like you may end up with a mama duck and babies in the garage all winter...

Just home from work 90 minutes late. Have to go in for another round later this evening but barely have time to breath. I normally get a halfway decent "break" in between (that I end up using for grading). Today, though, I had a long meeting to go to. I'd forgotten about it, blah!

Now I'm just worn out....

I mean shell have stocking stuffers and all -as I usually spend 50$ each in their stockings but dang the gifts get more and mroe every year so that limits obviously how many gifts they get!

what are your reasonable limits girls?? help me out-we just dont have the kind of $ we did 5 years ago due to the economy you know

That is way plenty. I'd skip the guitar & tell her if she still wants it next year it's an option. Instead, I'd fluff her gift by getting her a battery charger & some rechargeable batteries. Get the energizer that does 4 AAA or 4 AA. It works FAST. She may also need a memory card/stick for the camera. Those will be enough cost.

Birthday (16 yrs old). I kicked in $50 for some fencing gear he needed to buy. I also gave him a fun pillow@ $7. He got a language program that cost $35 and a game that cost $10. It seems like there might have been a couple of other things that were under $5. (Should clarify that his father overgifts. He gave him $100 which was ridiculous plus a music book & some other things. His father's parents gave him a keyboard, a couple of shirts, a stand for the keyboard, and a bench for it. )

For Christmas, he has asked for:

An art model -- left hand. I'll get this.
An art model -- 12" tall human figure. I'll get this.
A metronome. I'll get this for him, too.
A particular tshirt, only sold online and $25. He's not getting it from me. He can talk to his dad about that if he wants. I don't spend $25 on a tshirt...

I've also got a couple of things put away that I bought for him. Not sure what's in the box but it's not pricey stuff.

I also buy "family" gifts. These are things "for the house." This usually includes a game or two. It can also include a furnishing that's needed for the house, or yard items. This year, it may include some needed garden tools. It may also include the order of fruit trees we are going to plant in the spring.

good idea--I did however get her a carrying case and the memory stick for the camera came with the price tag:) Ok thank you so much I feel good--I feel bad because in the past 5 years ago and such when we were living off of alot more money than we have coming in now it was rediuclous how long it took to open all gifts...They have slowly gotten used to not getting evreything they want. I will not charge gifts anymore and If I cant buy them with cash I cant buy them:-(

Nope, you don't need to feel bad. They are still having a HUGE Christmas, even though it may not be what they used to have.

When my son was small, I bought too many gifts. Then his grandparents (father's parents) bought too many gifts. And, my house was cluttered to no end.

I started weaning him down to smaller Christmases. Finally got it so they focus on a couple of bigger items instead of 50+ smaller/medium items (ridiculous!)

I only buy a few smaller items. We buy other things throughout the year and he is old enough to understand that. For example, I buy books for his college classes. He's got one class this term where books were $250. That's for ONE class.

(And, when we get a second car, it won't be HIS car. It will be MY car that he can drive. When he gets a car of his own, it will be a car that he buys on his own and insures on his own...)

totally agree she wants to go to Volleyball camp this Summer its 480$

for 5 days. But that would be a gift I can tell her you want to go you need to chip in some like 150$ out of your Summer earnings. She only ever plays volleyball-she is NOT sports inclined if you know what I mean so If she wants to do it-heck Im going to help her the best I can to be the best she can be at the one and onyl sport she will play throughout her only high school career! Its only 5 days too -12 hour workout sessions everyday!
