Seriously, A warm winter coat, insulated boots, gloves and hat, some wear scarves and stay in as much as possible. This is the snowiest winter we have had for a long time and the coldest temps in several years. We have heaters, snuggies and furry pets to keep us warm in the house. About the fridge, this weekend since we were home so much we went through gallon after gallon of sweet tea. I have 2 pitchers and when I needed on to cool down fast, I just put it on the front porch until it was slightly slushy and it was ready to go! As for the animals, thank goodness for a young, ambitious teenaged boy to help take care of them! And like I said with the water, we just rotate fresh with the frozen in the morning and again in the evening. Anyone who looks like they are not handling the cold well gets to come inside. Like poor Pocono with is frozen whiskers and fur!

I don't know about there, but here they have to take a driving test every single year to renew their license to drive the bus if they are over 70. But still, at that age something could happen so fast at any time. I was never so glad to get my kids off the bus. Now the worry of a new driver (Colton) on these winter roads. He has impressed me on how well he has done. My mom was and still is the type that if there was even snow in the forecast she wouldn't let me drive anywhere. Therefore, when I got out on my own, I had no idea how to and was scared to death to do it. I am better now, but if I have the option, I will just let hubby tote me around!

Amen! Thats what I shoot for! I can see why you would worry about Colton driving in the snow. They just don't have the experience. I know I would be worried sick if Raymond was driving. His DR appointment is next Thursday (finally). I hope I feel better letting him at least drive to the bus stop again, weather permitting of course!

Oh rir,

to your sunshine! You are right about the earthquakes though. We have to worry about getting snowed in but we prepare for that. We have alot of power outages where we are at for some stupid reason. We do our best to prepare for that too. We had a night a while back where it was , I think 20 below, and we had no power for a couple of hours in the middle of the night. We have a kerosene heater and can round up animals and bring them in like Michelle said. We just pray our pipes don't freeze. Our master bathroom freezes up for about a month or so out of the winter so we have to share a bathroom with DS.

You mean you don't have to wear 2 pairs of socks, long underwear, snow boots, coveralls, 2 sweatshirts, winter coat, beanie and mittens to walk across the yard to the chicken coop??!! Oh and don't forget the snow shovel, or your not getting there or if you do you won't be able to get in!

The new fallen snow is absolutely beautiful as long as you don't have to get out in it. I love nothing more than to sit at home in my snuggie watching it fall. Traveling sucks. Right now it is coming down outside my office window and is a pretty sight. I wish I could get the camera to capture it!

Good morning to you too! How are you today? We had 17 below at home when I got up. Hubby said 45 miles away at the work it was 30 below! It is still 15 below but the sun is shining. I agree with you, I love to sit inside all cozy warm and watch the snow out the window. It is glistening this morning with the sun shine , so it is really pretty. However hubby just called and all of his truck dials are frozen so he has to sit on top of the trucks tank to monitor the oil level as he loads it! I was just on the phone with him for an hour while he was outside

Poor hubby! It has been one heck of a morning here too! Des and I got here at 5:30, she went out and scooped the sidewalk (I have pics of it to post later) and I answered phones. Our satellite reception was fading in and out. The boss fell off a ladder about a year and a half ago so we don't let him on one and the morning guy has health problems on top of 3 cracked and one broken rib, so guess who volunteered to go up on the roof to sweep off the dishes? So Des and I get back on our coveralls and garb and go outside loaded with a shovel, broom and ladder. I finally get a place scooped to lean the ladder, start to climb up as it is sliding everywhere. Destiny freaked out and called her dad. He came a few minutes later while I tried to dig out the station van that hasn't been moved from the very first snow. I couldn't get the door open enough to get my fat butt in it to move it because of all the snow around it, so hubby moved it (and it was stuck) and plowed all around it while we kept cleaning it off. I finally parked it back when he was done, but had to stick my head out the door to see anything. An hour later, Destiny and I pealed our wet outer clothing off and started our thaw! By then it was 8am, time for my work day to start!

It is still about 10 degrees here, but I haven't heard the latest windchill. It is only supposed to be 1 actual temp tomorrow with winds and low tomorrow night of -16! We are under wind chill warnings. Good news is that the snow has moved out except for some flurries and we ended up with about 5 inches.

It was sweet of hubby to come to your rescue! I can't wait to see your pics. I haven't taken any of our snow yet this year. I will try to do that today.

I was going through a new cookbook yesterday while hubby was on=line. Both of my "boys" love corn dogs. I said hmm, corn dog casserole? Hubby perked up, that sounds good. So I quickly scanned the recipe and decided I had everything. So I agreed to try it, I was hesitant because I am not a huge corn dog fan. It was so yummy, and easy! It called for cornbread muffin mix. I didn't have any but I had cornmeal so I mixed up the dry ingredients from the cornbread recipe and it worked perfect! If your family likes CDs they will love this! It is also cheap and could feed a group of teenagers. If anybody is interested I will post the recipe.

Good mornig NY! I hope you get caught up and can chat soon!
