Here is one of my Easter Eggers, April! I ordered twelve hatching eggs from Cackle Hatchery and they took far too long to arrive here, so I assume their chance of developing dropped. The eggs were surprise bantam hatching eggs, which meant I would have no idea what would come out. Only two chicks hatched, with April hatching on her own. Slate, a Cochin Bantam, had to be helped because he was shrink-wrapped and he had a deformed leg so I assume that was why he couldn't zip on his own.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
