The funny thing is, I have a phobia of cinemas. I don't even know why. I haven't been for some years now.I was 8 years old when the first Star Wars was released in 1977--the perfect age. My dad piled a bunch of my friends in the station wagon to Showcase Cinemas. The opening scene made my jaw drop. There was a giant spaceship flying over me! At the end, I thought "I'm not sure what that was, but I want to see it again!" And I did--dozens of times.
Amazing. I have no words. I’ve cried several times, here’s a scene that gets me every time:I've heard good things about it.
What's it like?
Clone Wars is like, my favorite animated show ever. You think it's gonna be all fun and games and then BOOM, suicide! murder! politics! slavery! war crimes! real moral dilemmas! Obviously, having these elements in media doesn't automatically make it great, but the way they deal with these issues and the way it's incorporated into the universe...it's just awesome.Favorite Character?
Seriously though, I'd have to split it into a top 5 light and dark. and maybe an "other".
Also, a serious plug for the animated SW stuff as well. Clone Wars and Rebels are some of the absolute best story telling in the SW universe. Both start a bit slow but once they are up to speed, they don't disappoint.
OK OK, here's a list
Dark Side characters:
1. Darth Sidious (AKA Emperor Sheev Palpatine)
I mean, come on. Baddest of the bad throughout the entire SW universe. He had many stories a Jedi wouldn't tell you in his knowledge, and he used them relentlessly to gain control and domination.
2. Vader.
Again, no contest here. Vader was as strong in the dark side as Palpy, but lacked the training and knowledge that would have allowed him to kill his master and take his place. And his portrayal has always been one of terror and fear, with the stories of his acts as a Sith lord only feeding his legend.
3. Darth Maul (and later just Maul)
Maul was a powerful Sith in his own right, and were it not for his pride and certainty that he was in control at all times, he could have become one of the most powerful Sith lords ever. His defeat by Obi Wan in Ep. 1 unhinged his mind, and his life from that point on became solely about revenge against the Sith and Kenobi.
4. Grand admiral Thrawn.
A highly intelligent Chiss, Thrawn was a master tactician and a ruthless commander for the Empire. A non force user, Thrawn's calculating and analytic genius was unmatched on either side of the conflict. His ultimate defeat was by surprise more than any other method, and to this day he is one of the baddest of bad-asses in the SW universe's history.
5. Darth Bane.
Creator of the Sith's "rule of 2" and the Great Plan , Bane laid the foundation that ultimately led Palpatine to an empire
Honorable Mentions to Darth Revan, Asajj Ventress and Mother Talzin.
Light Side Characters:
1. Han Solo.
Smuggler, pirate, hero, opportunist, scruffy-looking nerf herder. Call him what you will, Han is and will always be my favorite Star Wars hero. He's not exactly a good person, but he believes in what's right and just, and his moral compass always points the right way.
2. Leia.
I'm that age. She will always be my princess. She never gave up hope, even when no one would have blamed her for it. Leia's light always shined the brightest when the darkness was at it's peak. her spark is what kept the fires of rebellion and freedom burning in a galaxy that almost lost hope.
3 (tie). Caleb Dume (AKA Kanan Jarrus).
One of the few Jedi who survived Palaptine's Order 66 at the end of the Clone Wars, Caleb Dume assumed another identity and became a member of a cell of the rebellion. His story and sacrifice are played out in Star Wars Rebels, and his character defines what a Jedi
should be.
3 (tie). Obi Wan Kenobi.
Look. My top 5 could easily all be a tie for #1 in my book honestly. Each of them are the best for differing reasons. Kenobi was a powerful Jedi, a skilled statesman, and was eventually able to understand the lessons his master was trying to teach him about the dangers of the Jedi order. yes, he failed with Anakin, but over time he was able to put that failure behind him and set Luke on the right path to redeem Anakin and himself. Plus, he was funny.
5. Luke Skywalker
Yeah, he was a whiny moisture farmer from a backwoods outer rim planet, but he was also one of the greatest jedi to ever exist. We all know his story.
"Other"
I'm classifying this as "not directly light/dark force aligned any more" characters. I have my reasons, and I understand that you may have differing views on it.
1. Ahsoka Tano.
Anakin Skywalker's Padawan. After being betrayed by the Jedi order, Ahsoka left to find her own way in the galaxy. Eventually returning to help the Grand Army of the Republic, she also managed to survive order 66 and escape. Later, she would return to serve as a mentor and guide to the new republic, and battle Vader in an epic duel on Malachor. Her story has not been completed yet.
2. Boba Fett.
The OG Badass Mandalorian, his brief appearances in the original trilogy sparked an entire fandom within the Star Wars universe. As a bounty hunter, his loyalty was to the guild and to his next paycheck.
3. Cad Bane
Another Bounty hunter, Cad Bane was ruthless and efficient. he and his gang caused a LOT of trouble for the republic over time, and was someone who was remembered long after his death. Plus I liked his hat.
4. Jyn Erso
Seriously. Watch Rogue One. Jyn was a reluctant Rebel, but one of the most critical ones. Without her sacrifice, the Rebellion would have ended almost as soon as it began.
5. Din Djarin
"Mando" to many, the Mandalorian to all. Djarin is the ptriarch of a clan of 2, and is looking after a foundlng knowsn as "the Child" (AKA Baby Yoda). His story is still unfolding, but so far it's been epic. This is the way.
That's what I got. I'm not sure I could pick ONE from this list, honestly. The variety of characters and depth of the universe is what makes Star Wars so amazing, and it's been that way for me since I was 4.
It’s not a spoiler. Don’t worry, it’s a 3 second video of baby yoda running into mando’s armsI really should not watch spoilers.I will watch it as soon as I finish though.
Nice try.
Good reply.
A few characters there I don't remember. It's been a while since I watched certain films.
I'm not into animated films. Actually, I hate them. They do nothing for me whatsoever. Hence why I have so far avoided Rebels.
If I finish the others and feel like it, I might watch it. I can't see it happening yet though.
A slight problem I have is that after certain YouTube videos I cannot view certain characters in the same way again. BLR being one of the channels. And there are ytp videos that made me like Palpatine and Obi Wan even more.
That part was adorable. Also the jetpack scene was funny. It’s not a spoiler. Don’t worry, it’s a 3 second video of baby today running into mando’s arms![]()
Yep....even the terrible prequels. The funny thing is, I have a phobia of cinemas. I don't even know why. I haven't been for some years now.
Did you watch all of the star wars after that first one?
