I can hardly wait!!

How many made it to lockdown??
We got back last night from being out of state for 4.5 days. Of course, everything was fine. I put a Blink camera in there before we left, so it was neat to show everyone not only on the app how I changed the humidity right there and what the incubator was doing, but they could also see the eggs sitting in it.

I have a very hatching-naive 4th-grade school teacher who wants to learn how to hatch eggs in class next spring. She has been here to help me set the eggs, candle the eggs twice, and put the eggs in lockdown before we left. She was my backup should I have needed anyone to run over to physically do anything, which was very doubtful, but nevertheless, nice to know.

She is on standby to come over when I see them start hatching, so hopefully, it's during the day. ☺️

We (the teacher and I) candled and put them in lockdown (pulled the racks and laid down the rubber shelf liner) last Tuesday night before we left. There were 39 we deemed made it to lockdown. I raised the humidity a few days ago while out of state to 70%.

These will all be going with us back to Minnesota at the end of August. Fifteen silkie chicks have been sold, so hopefully, I can peddle more there.

One has pipped. :yesss:

Nice!

A quick sideline away from the cuteness that is about to hatch in Debbie's incubator... the power loss alarm we discussed yesterday, yep, got to test it last night. We had a really odd power flicker, it flickered multiple times quite quickly but then stayed on.

The alarm popped up on my phone but I also went to the incubator to check it as well. I do have it on a surge protector. All was well, phew! The incubator recovered the temperature and has been holding steady all night.

And, back to cute Silkies and Polish hatching!!!
